My three Goldens mean the world to me, they are my babies. When one of them gets sick it just breaks my heart.

4 years ago my beloved Chow/Husky mix, Bear, was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 13 and died 3 weeks later. I thought my heart was going to break. Then 6 months later, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer just after his 62nd birthday, 4 months later he died. And so did a very big part of my heart. The daily phones calls ended, the trips, the friend. Then to my horror, 6 months later my Golden Retriever, Sammy, was diagnosed with cancer in her blood, her bone marrow, and had congestive heart failure. Her red blood count was so low they thought she would make it only a couple of weeks. I really didn't know how I was going to handle it, that Cancer word was the worst word I have ever heard of. I came home with my sweet girl and immediately started searching the internet for alternative medicine. She was 13 and chemo, radiation, and surgery was not an option I would take. I just wanted her to be pain free and happy.

After many websites, I can across http://www.alohamedicinals.com/, they had a product called K9 Immunity, that is suppose to boost your dogs immune system who have cancer. I didn't know if it was going to be a waste of $60 or if this product may actually work. The bottle said to give one pill for every 10 pounds, she weighs 65lbs, so we were suppose to give 6 pills a day. It was a little trial and error but over a course of a couple of weeks we determined that 6 were too many so the perfect balance was 1 pill in the morning with food and 1 pill in the afternoon with her food. The first 3 months were up and down, good days and not so good days. After the 3 month mark, Sammy became a new dog. She was more energetic and affectionate. A month later we brought home two Golden sisters, Max & Murphy, they were 8 weeks old, to keep her company. Everyone thought I was crazy, 3 dogs, two puppies, one sick dog. It was one of the best things I have ever done. The puppies played with each other and did not bother Sammy, but at the same time became great companionship for her. I also think this gave her a willingness to live, she didn't want those puppies to have her cush life. Let me fast forward, Sammy turned 15 a couple of weeks ago and is a firecracker and sassy as ever. The is no longer on her thyroid medicine, she can jump on the couch by herself, and goes for a mile walk daily. Everyday is a truly blessed day with her. She is filled with love and affection and really is happy to be alive.

This is not an endorsement for any product, but I know when your heart is breaking you are looking for a solution to the problem. This is my knowledge of my particular situation, and knowledge is power. I hope you never find yourself in my situation, but if you do, I hope that this will help. This is Sammy's latest photo, what a pretty girl!

Give all your doggies extra pets and kisses tonight!

I love this story, and I will bookmark the website.  We have an 11 yr old lab that now has a problem with her adrenal gland.  Hungry and thirsty all the time.  We are working with meds from the vet, but will keep nutritional supplements as possibilities as well!

Carrie- I can't imagine what you have gone through! I am so glad to hear that you still have your friend, Sammy. As heart breaking as it is when we lose them, I can't imagine living my life without them! Thanks for sharing!
