$60 billion Aid package stalls to aid those hit by Super storm Sandy.  The Senate on Friday approved a $60.4 billion; many others think it should be half that amount.  What does rebuilding fisheries in the Gulf Coast and Alaska have to do with those affected by Sandy? Because of all the traditional Washington political “pork” Those affected by sandy must suffer.

An emergency funding bill should focus on the emergency needs of the victims, not the needs of politicians,

Loading up a massive $60.4 billion package with unrelated projects and earmarks for other states is not the way we should use taxpayer dollars to fund Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

expenditures criticized was $150 million to rebuild fisheries in the Gulf Coast and Alaska, thousands of miles from Sandy’s devastation, and $2 million to repair roof damage that pre-dates the storm on Smithsonian Institution buildings in Washington. The House of Representatives has not acted on the measure. Some House Republicans also want to lower the amount.

Frank, that's pretty interesting, from what I have read there was only 20 Billion in damages, so to spend 60 Billion in addition to the Billions that insurance, The Red Cross, and many others have contributed really sounds like a lot of PORK

Yes, this is crazy.  I hate the pork.  And, meanwhile, all the victims of Sandy can't get help and their expenses are going up (and mold is getting worse).  Unbelievable.

This should have been a no-brainer, but when it comes to Washington, nothing is simple. Some these elected folks should be looking for new work.

...yet, they give a HUGE tax break to NASCAR's UBERtrack owner, Bruton Smith, by allowing him to accelerate costs of improvements to his racetracks...I don't get it.

Frank but all we hear on the news is house Congress did not act on the bill, no mention of all the pork that got added that resulted in it stalling.

I agree Joe, its a no brainer

Wallace, It's amazing that they can get huge tax breaks to make more profit. That's like the sports teams that get a new Billion Dollar stadium paid for by tax dollars.

George, you very rarely hear of the pork in these bills, only the news that its stalling in Congress.

I can't believe they did that, Frank. We have a very strange bunch of people in Congress these day.

That is terrible that they would stall this Bill when those people need help from Sandy.
