All Koalas Eat Oatmeal

By
Industry Observer

The end of December is always when my car license tabs are due for renewal, and this year I was also scheduled to get new license plates.  Washington state requires new plates periodically - to make sure the reflective material on them is still in good shape (and/or to raise more money....).

So new plates it is!  There is the option to pay an extra $20 to keep the same license plate number, but since I am a cheapskate  always careful with spending money unnecessarily, I now have plates with a brand new assortment of letters and numbers.  No big deal, right?  Well, except for when I need to actually KNOW the plate number.  (including when I am trying to spot the right car in the grocery store parking lot, and verifying my plate number keeps me from accidentally trying to break into some other Toyota look alike....

The task then is how to memorize the new plate.  Easiest for me is always making up a phrase where the letters of the plate become the first letters of the words in the phrase - and then whatever I can come up with for the numbers.

License plate

The new plates begin with AKEO - so here we go - feel free to chime in with suggestions for me:

All Koalas Eat Oatmeal

Always Keep Equal Opportunity

And Kangaroos Everywhere Oops

A Key Ever Opens

Accept Kitchen Eating Only

Admire Kindness.....  OK, I'm stuck now!!  Help!!

What I needed was LOL on my plates - now THAT I could remember!

Nancy-Your phrase making is one way of handling it, or park far enough away that no cars are around your car. That.s the way I handle it.

That's one of the reasons I went with personalized plates.  So I could remember them.  The other reason was to have a conversation starter.  Can't tell you how many comments I get on mine.  STP TXTN.

Hi Wayne - yes that is another way I could be sure and find my car!  (though it's rainy so much of the winter here, that I probably will still park as close as I can get sometimes...)  :)

Hahaha Bill  - you have a point there!  I guess any distinctive holder would mean I wouldn't have to worry about remembering what my plate number is....

Anna Banana suggested a great one, but I'm in the All Koalas East Oatmeal camp - wonderful mental pictures! I think I'll look to see what my license plate is and try something similar. If I get half as clever as you, I'll share mine! Cheers to you Nancy.

Ingenious.  That is something I would never have thought of.  Fun post.  Best of luck, Nancy, I doubt you will ever forget your new plate's letters, at least.
