Guns and Hoses Raise money for MDA
Last night was the 10th annual Guns and Hoses Hockey Game at the Roanoke Civic Center. It was exciting! The teams played hard and had a great time. It was a tight, low scoring match with some big hits and a little rough stuff.
But its all for a good cause!
A record crowd attuned and a new record for money raiser was achieved also. Over 6,500 people contributed $5+ to get into the game and a total of $28,000 was raised in one night!
Between periods there was some great entertainment! A dance contest, shoot for cash, and the Learn to Play group from the Roanoke Valley Youth Hockey skated to show off their skills. If that wasnt enough.. One police officer overcome but a donut induced sugar high choose to do a reenactment of the famous strip scene from the movie SLAP SHOT.
It was a great nigh of family fun and we will be going again next year.
