After Hawaii Randy Prothero gave an introduction post Active Rain Goes Hawaiian to announce the "Surprise Celebrity Guests", they had a visit with Celeste WooHoo Sally Cheeseman and then jumped in Randy's car to head to the Active Rain Gathering (The first in Hawaii) at Gordon Biersche Lanai.

WooHoo Sally's son and daughter went early to help her set up the tables with little place setting gift bags while Randy went to pick up Sharon Simms. In they came and oh, goodness. Warm hugs for one of the people who made WooHoo warm and fuzzy all over from the beginning of her ActiveRain membership.

Look who they brought with them! Rich Jacobson and Bob Stewart from ActiveRain and Blogging Bertha and TLW our sooo good looking blogger and the gun slinger from the lake!

Then in walked David Kucic, his wife Tonya, and Jay Oku (all from Hawaii), and right after Jeff Dowler and his lovely wife Kay! I hugged Jeff and it was as if the voice on the phone just came to life!

Rob Lang - Kansas (Lucky Lang's brother) had been traveling around the islands for a few and having a good ole time!  (here's his show Hawaii Active Rain Gathering Hosts Sally and Randy)

Matt Heaton (ActiveRain) and his wife Lydiacame in shortly after and after hearing everyone say Matt is a "quiet guy" I just couldn't see much of that. hehe. He was quite the social person once his wife Lydia got him warmed up. A sparkling and bubbly personality that wife of his and all around we all had wonderful conversations with this special couple.

They were planning on going to the Academy of Arts today...and hey....I just noticed...us three gals have the same color on in this picture. With Matt wearing green you'd think it was still the holidays. Hearty har har!

Bob Stewart gulped one sampler "brew" and on his way to try four more different types of 'brews' that Gordon Biersche had to offer. He was sloshed by time he left with Rich Jacobson and their adoptive parents (more stories to come) and Blogging Bertha and TLW took off in separate directions.

It started to RAIN (we were on the covered lanai) and the story about that RAIN Randy will tell that tale in his upcoming sequel.

The other ActiveRain Members came in a little after we started and by time it was 9:30pm I was in my car headed home into the rainy night with exhaustion from the anticipation and a sense of contentment for meeting a lot of my friends and making a few new ones from ActiveRain.

Marlene Bridges  and Lynda Eisenmann (California) I recognized immediately coming down the escalator. I called to them "Parrot Heads"!  And what a bunch of noise we're all making and I jumped up to meet them and squish ...hugs so hard. (I loved these hugs!)Marlene and I have conversed a few times on the phone and it was another....come to life situation through ActiveRain as well as meeting Lynda....we're planning a slumber party for 2009 :)

We ate, they drank (Randy and I don't drink) and we picked biz cards for gift bags. Oh, and Randy and I made sure they all got "leid" (putting shell lei's around their necks and they came in) in Hawaii.

Jerry Bangerter Hawaii) Joeann Fossland- Arizona, Mario Trejo Romero - Arizona, Mary Pope -Handy and Kathleen Barnato - California were the last to come in.

Since Randy and a couple of others will be sharing their stories and the demise (or joy) of the Surprise ActiveRain Celebrities I'm going to end my story with this show:

Brian: Oh happy day...it was a beautiful turnout of friends who finally got to meet face to face. I was so happy to finally hug them. With Marlene, Lynda and Jeff it surely was a long time coming!

Monika: Beautiful time and hope you got to see the show!

Bryant: We sure did. I loved every minute (I'm not a real party night person and by 8:30 I was yawning and in the car at 9:30. It was pouring)  Bertha and TLW were a hit but since shotguns are outlawed from carrying around we had to confiscate TLW's gun.

Thanks Sally for your blog and a great evening.  You and Randy went overboard in welcoming us to the Hawaii Active Rain Get Together.

Thanks also for drawing my name for a prize even though I left my business cards in my condo unit.  I just learned today that my new business cards that I have been handing out all year don't have my name on them (gasp!!).

Thanks again!

Hey Sally, While I appreciate the invite and it would be fun, you girls should have it. Guys don't do slumber parties at least as far back as I can remember. When our sisters had them , it was the only time we really wanted to be a part of it. When you are real small, they sometimes let you come down and then when you fall asleep, they take you back to where you belong. As you get older though the guys are a pest to them. I can well imagine inviting me was Marlene's idea, lol, right? And then Lynda probably backed her up, you are all too funny.

I am really glad you had such a great time and it will be good sharing material for quite a while. But really is cool is as you all comment on each others posts it will be like really talking to the person and the real life impression is so neat to have. When I comment to the all those I have met , I actually see their face as they read it and comment back.

It really makes this all very personal and as you say REAL. WOnderful post and thanks for including me, I felt as though i was actually there.

Always,
William

This was terrific Sally - the event AND the post and pics. What a terrific time. It was so much fun to meet you and Randy in person, and a bunch of other Rainers I've not met before (I think I now have PERSONALLY met over 60 AR members to date). I am working on my post - just did not have time with the CRS event. Stay tuned.

And many thanks to you and Randy for all your hard work to make this a most memorable event in Hawaii!!

Jeff

Thanks Jeff: That was the whole thing about this whole gathering. The meeting was the best part!  To be able to hug you all and talk to you face to face was such a wonderful gift! Until we meet again Jeff...Mahalo!

How did I not know about this??  I enjoyed the Sell-A-Bration but didn't know about the gathering.  Hawaii is my home so I had lots of friends and family to see, but it would have been fun to meet you.  I also visited Hilo as I used to be the Controller for Lex Brodie's stores on the Big Island, and for the Honolulu stores in the 1990's - 2003.  Looks like a great time was had by all!

Aloha,

I like idea of an annual local gathering.  Possibly Susie and some of the neighbor islanders can join us.  We will have to figure a date that will give everyone an excuse to come together.
