Did you see the story about a local Holland, Ohio man (Doug Schell) who has cargo van that is about to reach 1 million miles?  Doug bought the used cargo van in 1996 with 40,000 miles on it.  In the next few days he expects the odometer to reach 1 million miles which, according to Ford Motor Co., will have the highest odometer reading for any E0-250 in the country!

Doug Schell of Holland, OhioOdometer of '97 Cargo Van

Doug works for Toledo's Bolt Express driving packages, auto parts, etc. from point-to-point across North America.  Would you believe he changes his oil every 10,000 miles (one time he drove it 55,000 miles!), put in a new exhaust system when it was over 990,000 miles, and got 500,000 miles out of his first serpentine belt.

Not everything works on his cargo van --such as the air conditioning, which makes it a "huge sweat box" in the summer. His regular maintenance provider has records documenting the work on this van from the date of purchase.

Would love to hear comments about things happening in Holland, Ohio.  Contact me at Sabo@bex.net and let me know what the "NEWS OF HOLLAND, OHIO" is.

Doug Schell

Hi Linda. This is Doug Schell the owner of that awesome van. A friend of mine did a search for my van and found your site and told me about it, so I had to leave a post. :o) Along with  no air  conditioning  for the last  5 years I also did all these miles with no cruise control. My right calf is much larger than my left calf. lol. This year I hit 2 deer. My first time ever hitting a deer with any vehicle and I did it twice in one year. Both headlights and the grill have been replaced (twice) this year because of that. My roadkills include a snake, a frog, a dog, a bat (the flying kind, not baseball), squirrels and a bird or two. It's been in all but 7 states. Washington, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska & Hawaii. I can't drive to Hawaii and doubt getting a load to Alaska but the other 5 states I'm going to try and get to yet. The amazing thing with the van is that of all the miles and all these years I've only broke down 4 times. 2 times it was the alternator and 2 times it was the fuel pump. It's been a really great van.
