Canton High held its Winter Concert before the holidays.
Rather than trying to fit everything in before school vacation, the Galvin Middle School will hold its 2013 Winter Concert on Thursday, January 10th. It is nice not to have one more event going on in December and is a welcome break from the cold January winter.
The Galvin Middle School Winter Concert will be on Thursday, January 11th at the Canton High School auditorium. The 6th Graders will perform at 6:30 and the 7th and 8th graders will perform at 7:30. There are so many students performing that they need to divide up the performances so there is plenty of seating and parking for everyone.
There will be performances by the chorus group from each grade, band and the orchestra (strings) groups. Music from composers Ed Siennicki, Marvin Hamlisch, Anne McGinty, Bruno Mars, John Philip Sousa and Michael Jackson will round out the performance. Now that's a wide range of music!
Canton MA has a strong performing arts program, spurred on by the leadership of its dedicated teaching staff and supported by the community through the music booster organization MusicCounts!.
The students have been working hard since September and this is their opportunity to show how much they have learned and how much their practicing has paid off. Come in out of the cold and listen to Canton's talented middle school students.
You may note that the jazz band has been left out of this performance. In order to keep the concerts to a reasonable time, the Galvin Middle School Jazz Band will be performing later in the month, along with the Canton High Jazz Band and the Canton High A Capella chorus. Stay tuned!
