Madison Beaches - are simply the BEST - Traveling East from New Haven, Branford and Stony Creek "Stony" from the stone quarry that offers the legendary 'Pink Granite" beautiful stone = lousy beach sand - Guilford - more of the same. Madison - the start of the BEACH!  Yes there are loads of 'private beaches" here but Madison also offers more town beaches than any other. A little known fact that at the end of any town owned road is a public beach!  Parking is  another issue.....The Surf Club - Madison's own public club. Hundred's of feet of beautiful sandy beach, plenty of parking, a seperate sailing area, a picnic area on the point, concession stand, our football stadium, soccer and baseball fields, basketball courts, horseshoe pits an incredible family location. Walk on down or drive to the end of West Wharf Road to 'West Wharf Beach" no facilities but great fishing and some pole moorings for residents as well as 2 great resturants within 100 feet. The Dolly Madison and The Wharf - both have been bought by the same owner who promises they will reopen by summer.  Hop in the boat or drive on further East to East Wharf Beach, another stone pier for fishing as well as a sandy beach with lifeguard and a bathroom and parking.  3 great town beaches.  Further east from East Wharf there is access (but no parking) from the end of Seaview Beach at Waterbury Ave and if you stay below the high tide line you can walk all the way to Hammonasset Beach a CT State Park.
