When You Fight With Color...Color Always Wins!

By
Home Stager with Staging Sells Eugene Homes 392746-91

In the course of 3 years of home Staging, there have been many clients who have faithfully done what I've asked with regard to painting their homes a more neutral color in order to have those homes appeal to a broader market. After all, this just makes practical marketing sense.

However, there have been a few who, for a number of reasons, have been unable or unwilling to change out dramatic, personalized colors. For them, I've discovered that fighting with color never works. Here is one example of how NWDH addressed these challenging opportunities:

I CALL THIS ONE "Tangerine, butter and sage, OH MY!

NOTE: Fortunately, I have a large enough inventory that I didn't have to go out and buy anything extra for this home. Otherwise, I would NOT have made any money!

Janis,

I agree with Tricia.  They're warm and photograph well. Much better than mauve or white. you did the exact perfect thing by injecting a relatively neutral pallet. I think it looks beautiful!

You made it work and actually pleasant to the eye! You made the ugly old fashion kitchen look inviting and, love the small dinner table with the parson chairs. Good job!

Gotta say I wasn't loving the green but you made it work.  I have to tackle a red formal tomorrow, at least I was forewarned!

Janis ~ This is beautifully artistic staging that hightlights the features in this home instead of detracting from them like the Before photos.  And your photographs are lovely as well!

Very nice ~ you did a wonderful job working with the existing paint!  The neutral furnishings in the living room really highlight the fireplace as a focal point... vs. the paint.  Nice touch with the addition of the color draped on the dning room parson chairs.  Placemats, I'm guessing?

Wow, Janis, you made that place look great!  We have a very "colorful" house on the schedule to stage on Friday.  You've provided me with some inspiration!

What a difference, it all looked so terrible at first.  Taking out the tangerine really helped reduce the offensiveness of the sage.  Great call!

You really made the colours work! I'm very impressed. I'd have tried so hard to get the owners to paint. I just love how well it works.

I've learned to step back and really think, thanks!
