The 11th annual Totes 2 Tots suitcase drive sponsored by the Georgia Cancer Specialists is scheduled for Jan 18th, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Totes 2 Tots delivers new or gently used backpacks and kid sized suitcases to foster children in Georgia. Often, foster children, when relocated their belongings are put in plastic garbage bags. The move in itself is often traumatic for a child and the hope is the suitcases will add a little dignity to their move.
The annual event was started in 2003 by Georgia Cancer Specialists and was originally held on Martin Luther King Day, in honor of Dr. King as a way to give back to the community. Since 2003 Georgia Cancer Specialists has collected and distributed more than 30,000 bags.
