Burmese Python,  National Zoo

One of the benefits of visiting the big snakes at the National Zoo in Washington DC is that they are behind glass.  I do not think I would want to meet a Burmese Python in its natural habitat.  This is one big snake.

Burmese Pythons are native to southern and southeast asia.  They are among the largest snakes.  The average length is about 12 feet and they can grow to be longer than 18 feet.

Take time to visit the zoo.  There is always something new to learn and photographs to be taken.

Hi Roy, like you I would be glad they are behind glass.  Wow the average length is 12 feet, he's not small that's for sure.

Hi Roy, Do not like snakes either and heard about the python hunt in the Everglades. In my opinion the only good python is a dead python. But Roy it is a good picture and HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.

Those are the ones they're trying to thin out down in the Florida Everglades. I really wouldn't want to meet that thing out in the wild.

Roy- Florida has had a month long Python hunt going on and so far 41 have been captured.  Unfortunately the Burmese Python has invaded the Everglades and I think we may be too late to eradicate them.
