For the fifth year in a row, Maryland has the best public school system in America.
As a Real Estate agent focusing on the residential home sale market in Howard County, MD, it’s news like this that makes my job that much easier. Maryland’s ceaseless desire to improve and strive for the brass ring has made the “Old Line State” a true force in education, and Howard County and Ellicott City, in particular, are their prides and joy.
Scored on a variety of different criteria, Maryland’s key strengths lie in their ability to transition students to the next level. In other words, their early-childhood education, college readiness, and ability to prepare students for the workforce were Maryland’s greatest fortes, scoring scored a 96.4 out of 100. The US average, for comparison, was an 81.1. Maryland was the only state in the country to score a B+, garnering an 87.5 total score. Massachusetts, which came in at #2, scored an 84.1. Within Maryland, Howard County is renowned for its tremendous schooling (with this report card reaffirming that notion), and it’s uplifting to work in a County that gives education its utmost priority.
A large percentage of the budget in Howard County goes towards Education.
The website "du jour" for families moving with school aged children is GreatSchools.org. The highest score is a 10 & a third of Howard County schools are ranked this high. Here are the Howard County Public Schools.
With schools being such a top priority for so many home buyers (and rightfully so!), I don’t have to sell Howard County to buyers, as the list of incoming residents is always growing and the results speak for themselves.
All we need now is a Ravens win tomorrow, and my Maryland pride will be at an all-time high.
