bienes raicesI've been writing blog posts in Spanish because it is an untapped market, anyone that speaks another language should be taking full advantage.

With that in mind, I was recently contacted by a gentleman that needs mortgage information in Spanish.  To think that I live in Miami and it hasn't been an easy task is beyond me.  After speaking to Brian Brady, he came up with the genius idea of asking for help via blog.

The idea is to be able to create a network of Spanish speaking professionals in the real estate industry that we could resort to.  I also created a group here in Active Rain for those that want to join.

Red de profesionales de bienes raices

If you do speak Spanish, please follow this link to my Miamism.com blog where I give specifics of what we are looking for.

**please note that the link will take you to another website outside of Active Rain**

I am with you, I don't speak Spanish but I sure did register many URL's in Spanish as I see that trend a mile away.

Take care!

Ricardo - make sure you read the article at Miamism for the details - I would have called you in a heart beat and actually mentioned it to Brian.

Robert - we had an interesting discussion about including posts in Spanish and then not being able to address callers or e-mails in the language.  When you are ready to get those url's out there, make sure you have someone that speaks the language (if that of course is your goal).

Ines,  Sí, adoraría ayudar con sus clientes. ... Adoro dinero. Y para poder trabajar con un corredor de bienes raíces bonito tal como usted mismo, sería un honor.

Jeff Belonger....  >>>>  IRISH....   LOL     Ines, I know you are serious about this.  I wish I had taken Spanish. I took French. In any case, this is a great idea. Remember my series of blogs on top trend setters?  Top Trendsetters to watch in your upcoming markets…… Part 3 of 3. The Hispanic Sector  And good old Brian Brady shared that free translator, hence why I was able to hold a conversation with you... ?   ;o)    It was fun.

Overall, again, great idea and I hope you can partner up with some good people.   Good luck...

Jeff - you should hear my Irish friend imitate my mother's Spanish....it's hilarious!  I think we commented on each other's posts at the same time.  Let's see where this takes me.

lol....    yes, we did...  but back to my primary language.

En este momento, yo tomaría una mujer irlandesa o a una española. ¿La espera, de dónde vino eso?

Rick & Ines, I am blown away that you were unable to find snyone to meet your needs in Miami.  Great that you have options through Active Rain.

Ines,

You might want to ask Ray Saenz in Colorado. He was at one time posting some of his blogs ...he hasn't been on in a while so I'm not sure what happened. Hey by way I just put up a flyer for a new listing and when I took the bathroom shot I thought of you regarding the seat:)

Ines, I created an entire Spanish Speaking division at my firm in Pasadena CA and we created a list of service providers from lenders to title/escrow officers to inspectors who spoke Spanish.  If you want their info I can get it to you but I'm guessing you need someone in Miami.  Networking at bilingual first-time buyer seminars is a great way to meet them.  I'm sure they are out there.  Why don't you check the NAHREP website?  (National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals).

Ines, can't believe I did not see you post this one, I really must be getting old :)

We just hired a Spanish speaking Loan Officer, and I have been trying to hire another one, but good ones are very hard to find around here.  There is a big need in several towns in Connecticut for Spanish speaking Loan Officers, we have a large Spanish speaking population in many parts of the state.  Wish me luck in finding one that has the qualities that are needed in this business.

Hi Ines - A couple of months ago I took a class in Latino marketing that was co-sponsored by NAHREP. I think they would be a great place to start, as well as any of the Hispanic chambers of commerce. It will be interesting to see how much of your business in 2008 comes from Spanish versus English posts.

JaneAnne - thank you!  that's exactly the spirit of this post.

Neal - thanks for thinking of me when you saw that toilet!  I'll see about Ray

Wow Diane! that's awesome!  At this point, anyone in Florida would be good, as long as they can do FHA loans.

George - Brian told be about5 The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals.  That may be a good source for you as well.

B&BJ - In a country like the US, any second language is important without a doubt

John - I just mentioned NAHREP to George above - Brian Brady was the one that told me about the association and I will definitely get more info. (almost 1/3 of the searches coming in to miamism are in Spanish and I only have a few Spanish posts)

Hi Ines - this is a great idea, and I hope you get the contacts you're seeking.  I used to speak Spanish somewhat fluently, but it's one of those things that if not used gets lost over time, unfortunately.  I liked the suggestions in several of the comments about NAHREP, and I like Jeff's translator.  He really had me going there for a moment thinking he spoke Spanish like that!

Ann

ps - funny how Neal thinks of you when he sees toilets.....   ;-)
I have to say when I see lids UP, guess who I think of, too???

Ines, I was a founding member of NAHREP even though I don't speak Spanish and have taken their class and got their designation.  I'm sure it is even better today.  I highly recommend that you get invovled with them...the founders were from California and were great leaders...it must be huge by now!

Marlene - I'm so sorry for skipping you - I am blown away as well.  Can you believe that a lot of people speak the language but can't write it?

Ann - toilet or not....at least you guys are thinking of me! :)  NAHREP is definitely my next move

Diane - you keep surprising me, that's amazing!

Hi Ines,

Good luck on this one!

The U.S. has evolved into such a global place it would be helpful at times to have a "multi" lingual staff. I'd love to have a Spanish speaking person myself, along with Korean (just to name a few) in our area of SoCal.

Lynda - thank you - the best that has come out is NAHREP - so it's always valuable info.  There's a guy in our office that speaks 5 languages!  That's what I call tools!

Ann - : )
