Things To Do In or Near Arvada, CO

By
Real Estate Agent with The DiGiorgio Group

There are so many things to do in or near Arvada, I can't keep track of them.  So, I decided to put them into a blog post and update it as I see new adventures so that while I'm helping myself remember, I'm helping you too!  I will continually add to this post, so check back every now and then.

Date-Sensitive Adventures

These are the events that I regret missing the most, because I will have to wait a year for most of them to happen again, and some will never happen again.

Lighting of the Sixth Avenue Bridge

January 23 - Light rail is coming to Denver's northwestern suburbs, and the West Rail Line will be open soon.  This ceremony, Lighting of the Sixth Avenue Bridge, sounds like fun!   CHECK!!!  Went with the kids and grands, nice community event!

Chocolate Affair

February 9 - Arvada's Annual Chocolate Affair is held every year, and I've never made it out to the event.  But this year my friends at Bella Gourmet Chocolates will have a booth, so I'm extra-motivated. CHECK!  Went with the hubby - unfortunately, my friends were all out of their samples but we found plenty more to sugar-out on, then we got snowed on!

Gardening Classes

February through March - See the post by clicking on the link, and get out to learn some new gardening techniques!

St. Patrick's Day in Olde Town Arvada

March 16 - Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Olde Town Arvada.  From noon until 6 pm Grandview Ave. between Webster and Olde Wadsworth will be flush with music, food, arts & crafts booths, family entertainment, Irish Spirit contest, beer & wine.

Kite Festival

April 13, 2013 - I usually don't miss the kite festival, which is held at Carr and 74th.  I can walk there from my house, after all!  I really enjoy it and every year it gets bigger and better.  See my previous post about Arvada's 2012 Kite Festival.

Arvada Trails Day

June 1, 2012 - another event I haven't made it out to, but this will be the year!  Starting at either Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge or Majestic View Park, hike from one to the other.  Enjoy booths, animals, exhibits, nature, hiking.

Rocky Mountain Air Show

August 16-18 - the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport is only about five miles north of me, and attending an air show is something I've wanted to do all my life.  Last year, I finally made it to the Rocky Mountain Air Show with my hubby and my grandson.  I loved it, and expect I will not miss it again!

Ongoing Adventures (not date-sensitive)

Ancient Treasures Alpaca Ranch

I still have fond memories of an alpaca ranch I visited in Hood River, Oregon a few years ago.  Hard to believe there's one right here in Arvada I've never visited!  The yarn shop is open weekends, but this is more than a yarn shop - they breed and raise alpacas, and love to show them off.  So, I'll figure out when I can go see the sweet creatures too.

Classic Cars in Olde Town Arvada

The Mathews Collection - some day, I've got to find this place, which I think is in Olde Town.  But even if you visit the website (by clicking the link above), you won't find an address.  It's a mystery, and one I'm going to solve soon!

Festival Playhouse in Olde Town Arvada

Community theater in Olde Town Arvada.  Ongoing since the mid-1970s, but currently in need of some community support.  Hmmmm ... need to get a group together to visit the Playhouse.

Stargazing at Garden of the Gods

I've been to Garden of the Gods during the day, of course.  But I read a tip in a blog post by Sondra Meyer that it's also a great place to star gaze, and I'm going to make that an event this summer.  (Sondra is a real estate agent who specializes in horse property from Denver to Colorado Springs.)  Picnic dinner, a little hiking, then relaxing on a blanket while darkness falls - and admission to the park is free!

Wild Animal Sanctuary

Just a few minutes' drive from my Arvada home, this is a place I've visited once and need to get back to.  They have completed the walkway, and it is a much longer stroll overlooking the lions and tigers and bears!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Just a small zoo, but gets rave reviews from locals who've visited, and me - I've not made it there yet.  This will be the year!

How to buy a house Denver to Boulder.

I write posts on real estate issues and local events in the Denver metro area, especially those communities between Denver and Boulder, as a public service. My hope is to give people an idea of the ‘flavor’ of our community, in case they’re new or moving to the Denver area.

I am a residential real estate agent, happily helping folks buy a house or sell a house in the beautiful and friendly suburbs northwest of Denver.  Read what past clients have said about me.
