MEET THE GREATEST GENERATION

If you live in the area of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, and you either belong to the "Greatest Generation", know of it, or would like to learn more about the lives and times of these revered Americans abroad in the Great War and back here on the homefront, then hie yourselves to the Wright Museum on Sundays this winter for its Cabin Fever Lecture Series.

The series consists of nine afternoon lectures on a wide range of World War II-era topics showcasing the stories of millions of  Americans who grew up during our nation's Great Depression, contributed to a productive and successful war effort, then went on to build our great nation into a world superpower.  The mission of the Wright Museum, locate at 77 Center St., Wolfeboro, is to honor, preserve and share "the remarkable achievements of ordinary people living in extraordinary times".  

 The first lecture begins Sunday at 2 p.m., Feb. 3.  Doors open at 1 p.m. Reservations are are suggested.  Call 603 569-1212 to reserve seats. Admission is $7 per person, free for Wright Museum members.

1. Sunday, Feb. 03 - Mapmaker, Mapmaker, Make Me A Map; Women and            Mapmaking in WWII.  Presented by Betsy Reese, Maine Maritime Academy.

2. Sunday, Feb. 10 - Honor Flight New England.  Presented by Joe Byron, Honor Flight New England.

3. Sunday, Feb. 17 -  They Sawed Up a Storm - Women's Sawmill at Turkey Pond, NH. Presented by Sarah Smith, UNH Cooperative Extension.

4. Sunday, Feb. 24 - Carlson's Raiders; 2nd Marine Raiders Battalion. Presented by Harold Sheffield, WWII Veteran.

5. Sunday, Mar. 03 - Unifying a Nation: WWII Posters From the NH State Library. Presented by Russell Bastedo, Ret. State Curator, State Library; Janet Eklund, Library Operations Administrator.

6. Sunday, Mar. 10 - African American Submariners of WWII and Beyond. Presented by Glenn Knoblock, NH Humanities Council.

7. Sunday, Mar. 17 - "Half Pint" Film Screening and Discussion With Its Director. Presented by the film's director, Duncan Putney.

8. Sunday, Mar. 24 - Coastal Defense. Presented by Gordon Bliss, Coast Defense Study Group.

9. Sunday, Apr. 04 - Japanese Weapons of WWII. Presented by Mike Hashem, Wright Museum Board of Directors.
