For Foodies, Value Seekers, and Just For Fun in North County San Diego

It's back! The now twice a year prix fixe special week is here for your dining pleasure. North County seems under-represented in quantity, but we do have some quality choices. No matter where you go, it's best to make a reservation today or sooner! North County Coastal has 46 choices while North County Inland has 12. Of those 12, a real treat may be in Rancho Santa Fe at Mille Fleurs. For the adventurous, how about trying the new Cohn Restaurant Vintana which is on the top floor of the Lexus dealership in Escondido and the $30 prix fixe 3 course menu selections at dinner sound scrumptuous .

For North County Coastal one of my favorites is Jakes Del Mar. Great waterfront dining, delicious scallops, and a Hula Pie dessert which is hard to beat AND it's just $30 also. A trip to La Jolla could reward you with dining at The Marine Roomif romance is in the plans. I would also highly recommend Market, Pamplemousse, or West as special treats.

Insider Tips

Make reservations: Popular places on the Friday night especially can be already full a couple weeks in advance.

Tip well: You're getting a deal on the food, but those servers and chefs are probably working harder this week than most.

Make a return visit to those places you like: Hey isn't that one of the main ideas...try a new place. And if you like it, go back again, tell your friends, or even blog about it.

Try again in September: Many of these same restaurants will be doing this again in September, so if you can't make it this week, plan ahead for the fall!
