Should you submit your final utility bill if is shows a Credit? Yes if you paid a deposit and the final bill was deducted from theFinal Bill, OnlineREPA deposit on account.

I'm always amazed at the number of reimbursements that are not submitted for reasons that are sometimes, not justified and more suprised with the number of asset companies and banks that take advantage of agents that are not paying attention to this small detail that can cost them thousands of dollars annually.

It is simple, when you pay a deposit to connect the utility at a property, the utility company will keep the deposit as a means of security and to ensure that the final bill is paid, deduct the final bill from the deposit paid on the account. In the later case, if your deposit is retained to pay the final bill, you PAID the final bill. Your final invoice will either show a credit for the difference or a debit if the final bill exceeded the deposit amount. Nevertheless, the invoice showing a credit has to be submitted to the asset company for reimbursement.

All of the banks will indicate in their reimbursement guideline that the bank/asset company will not reimburse for deposits. However, when your deposit is retained to pay the final bill, you have a right to the amount to be reimbursed on the final bill when the deposit was used to pay the last bill.

So pay attention and don't let the asset company or bank avoid their responsibility.....GET PAID!
