Isn't that nice?  Someone thought of you to send you the very best.  Just delete it...it's a fake.  You will get a virus.

A couple items to notice that it's a fake.  First off, the spelling.  It's received not RECIEVED.

And Hallmark will always tell you specifically who the card is from...it won't be addressed to you from a "friend" or "neighbor"

If you hover above the link that says click "here"... you will see that it doesn't have Hallmark.com in the address but an IP address with an .exe extension... that is bad.  It will run a program on your computer immediately.

Hallmark Virus

On Hallmarks website you can contact them to report the incident and what else to do.   Here's the warning posted on their website.

At first Norton Antivirus, didn't do anything to the virus.  But when I download AVG free version, the virus was deleted and quarantined.

If you really meant something from the sender...they would of sent you a real card!!!

It is amazing what people will do.  Just don't open if you don't recognize the sender.

Wait. If they spelled recieved wrong, that could have been me! I need the correct spelling of that word engraved on my tombstone.

Thanks for that post. That means it won't be long before my wife downloads me a new virus!

Come on Bob...you just heard about this? I knew of this like 6 months ago and even wrote a blog too...I lost my whole hard drive and had like 5 viruses on it..I should have known better. They were coming from so called Hallmark, ecards, and a couple of other fake names. This is really old news but I guess it is back again.

Thanks for the heads up Bob.  In the past I've fallen prey to some of this crap, though I'm a little bit smarter about things now.

Thanks for the warning, Bob.  It's hard to know sometimes, but a good rule is to hit "delete" if there is any doubt.

Thanks for posting! Before risking opening my email, I googled "warning 'you've received a Hallmark E-Card!' " and your page came up at the top. Words like warning, beware, hoax & danger are some of my most used words at google, whether I'm checking about an email or a product I'm curious about. :)

Does anybody know if there is a fix for this virus or not?

My husband just opened this email on my computer last night.  He said he shut it down right afterwards because he suspected a virus.  I am nervous to restart it now and need to know what to do once I have it on to erase the virus (if possible).  Our current anti virus software expired so I know I will need to download something and am not sure if I can even get on the internet.

Please Help!!!

Try the links at the bottom of the post.  Hallmark has a fix and AVG removed it for me.  Good luck.

It's great you're getting the word out there about this Hallmark virus, Bob!!  Hundreds of people are still getting it everyday.  I know because they come to my spyware blog looking for solutions.  http://ducktoes.com/blog/2008/10/05/hallmark-card-virus-fixhallmark-card-virus-fix/  And you're right AVG free does fix it.  Everyone should have AVG or another anti-virus on their computer all the time.  And why not, there are free versions.
