Flower Mound Flu Shot ClinicIt's no secret that this year's flu season has gotten off to a strong start. According to some experts, this is the worst year in a long time, and it has many people rushing to get a flu shot in the hope of warding off the sickness. This includes many Flower Mound home owners, who recently took advantage of a flu shot clinic to help protect their families. The Care Van Program, which is part of the Caring for Children Foundation of Texas, innoculated both children and their parents. While many people think it's too late, experts say that the flu season is expected to last for about three more months, and as such, there's still time to get a flu shot.

Adds Beth Stodieck, lead nurse of the Care Van Program that is part of the Caring for Children Foundation of Texas, "The flu is a deadly disease. The flu is not something that's going to go away in a few days."

The Care Van is circling Texas to help vaccinate kids who are without insurance. While it's an annual program, Stodieck said interest is higher this year because of the flu epidemic that's a problem in most U.S. states. She notes, "We haven't really had a bad flu outbreak in the last few years, so parents have gotten a little complacent. Then — all of a sudden — we get a break like this year, and people realize how much they need it. By getting a flu shot, you give your child the best shot there is."
