Feng Shui Advice: Have you looked inside your Garage lately?

It is important to remember Feng Shui extends beyond the walls of your home. When you make the choice to enhance the energy of your house, it also includes the land and any other buildings that may reside on your property.  Many times I will have a clients ask how, "does my garage count when addressing Feng Shui with my home?" The answer is yes it does.  So remember even the garage needs some TLC.

This is even more important if your garage is detached from your home. Below is a diagram to show an example.

Here are some easy to follow Feng Shui tips on on how to enhance your garage and if you have a detached garage set up.

  1. Let go of any items in your garage that you do not use, need or love.  Be patient with this process because it will take some time. For some it can take weeks, months or even a year depending on how motivated you are and what you are willing to let go of.
  2. Be sure to keep your garage organized once most or all of the items you let go are out of the way.

If your garage is attached to the home and is bellow the other rooms, keeping this space organized is very important.  Feng Shui says energy rises up.  If below is congested than that feeling of energy will rise up to the rooms above.

You also want to be mindful of where your detached garage is located with the layout of your land according to the Ba-gua.  The example above shows this garage falling along the area of partnership from the entire land layout. Some garages may fall into the "Fame" area or even "wealth" corner of your yard.

The garage can be a playful place if you wish it to be.  Some will transform it to become a wood shop, art studio or storage for collector cars.  Maybe you enjoy the hobbies of restoring the actual cars, bikes or you may simply need a place to store your outdoor adventure gear.  Please to not disregard the importance of taking care of the garage, it is part of your home.

Laura- as I tell my clients when providing a consultation... buyers do look at garages.  With this information there's even more reason to keep your garage organized and edit what you don't need or use.
