"Aspens in Velvet"

The snow that accumulated on the Aspen trees reminded me of the velvet on deer antlers.

Photographed on January 12, 2013 at the Steamboat Springs Ski Resort using a Nikon S9100 at f8.8. Post-shoot processing in Adobe Lightroom.

So beautfiul and such a talent for shooting great pictures. I love my Rebel Digital and I have learned that in some cases I am pretty good at taking pictures. I do it for my personal enjoyment and have shared on AR. I find taking those pictures gives me a good feeling inside that I have captured what I think I see in nature to keep forever. Love the shot and keep posting.

I usually shoot with one of my Nikon DSLRs, but decided not to carry them on this trip. I opted for the Nikon S9100. I often have a name for my better shots and a mental vision of what I want to capture long before taking the shot. The only downside to the S9100 is a lack of control...

Tom, that is one fabulous photograph. It's hard to believe that the scene actually exists. I'd love to hear more about your other cameras.

Tammie,

My other two DSLR bodies are the Nikon D40 (my "throw in the car" body) and the Nikon D5100. I've stuck with Nikon since I already had purchased good lenses. I really like the fixed 35mm f1.8 for macro or low-light work, a 10-20mm super-wide for real estate, and the 18-200mm for almost everything else.
