Thursday, my friend and coworker Rachel was gifted an iPhone. The only downside was it was wrapped in a big old piece of clear packing tape to keep the cracked screen together and attached.

While we were talking about it I jumped online and Googled for iPhone repairs and found iCracked.com. I noticed there were reviews on Yelp.com so I headed over to check them out. Hey Rachel, “this looks pretty cool.” Try this website, or here’s the phone number, give them a call. They have a location in Renton.

Katherine from iCracked.com repairing iPhones on site at our First American Title branch in Kent, Washington.

Rachel calls iCracked and within a few minutes she has a quote, they're sending a tech out to repair the phone on site, and how about tomorrow, does that work for you? We’re laughing, "Now this is what I call WOW service!"

But wait there’s more!

A look inside an iPhone.

About an hour later Rachel say’s, OMG! My fiance has an iPhone with a cracked screen! She jumps back on the phone and calls the tech and asks her if she could fix both devices on Friday. Yes, I can do that and you’ll get a 10% discount per phone because there’s more than one.

Tiny small parts from the inside of an iPhone.

Friday iTech Katherine shows up to our office with her tools and a small table. Fortunately, we had a small conference room available so we put her in there. I didn’t know she was here but when I found out curiosity got the best of me! Have you ever seen the insides of an iPhone?

I popped over to the conference room to introduce myself and “I hope you don’t mind but I just have to see what it looks like inside.” Katherine was wonderful and we had a great conversation about iCracked and the amazing adventures of being an iTech. She obviously loves her job and has met a lot of interesting people. I asked her if she’d mind if I took a few photos. “Not at all.”

Of course I let her know I was a blogger and not about to let a great happening like this go unposted!

iCracked repairs iPads, iPods, and iPhones. Just go to their website at: iCracked.com and give them you name, phone, and your current location or zipcode and click the Request an iTech button and a tech will call you to set up an appointment.

The company started up in a dorm room (of course!) in 2010 by its founder and CEO AJ Forsythe. They're growing fast and now have over 350 technicians and 200 locations in major metro areas across the US including Canada, Australia, and South Africa.

If they’re not in your area you can purchase a pre assembled repair kit that includes the tools you’ll need to repair it yourself and there are videos on YouTube to guide you, or you can mail your iDevice to their HQ and it’ll be shipped back to you the same day it arrives.

Cudos to them for finding a niche market that must be constantly growing. The phone manufacturers or the providers have no interest in helping you. They just want to sell you another phone. I found out this the hard way when my smart phone died on me last week and I spent a total of 3 yes 3 hours in the sprint store.

As an owner of several Apple mobile devices, this is information I'm sure I'll need at some time in the future. Thanks for this tip. I'm sending this post to my college kids for future reference.

Rene, what a great market this company has! Their name is priceless and memorable.  One of my good friends who owns a marketing company always says that your company name needs to reflect what you do.  They have nailed it!

Rene-Talk about finding a niche and then filling. What a great service and I hate to think about being out contract due to a broken iPhone or iPad.

Amazing! And all started from a dorm room!  We had a conversation at dinner tonight about "is college really necessary"?  I have a degree...but I'm not using it as a real estate agent.  Hard work and creativity can carry a person far!!  Thanks for sharing René!
