We know that no one else that we know has a warmer heart that Matt Anderson...Mr. Matty himself. We applaud him every day for one more opportunity he gives all of us to give back to the community.....and this annual Polar Plunge is to benefit TheSpecial Olympics...a charitable organization we share and honor as being deserving of the inspiration and recognition it offers to people who have mental health challenges. It warms our hearts....and you will find the great food, terrific drinks and friendly atmosphere a great place to enjoy this event....so GO out in the cold...come back in and enjoy....and know that you have contributed to an outstanding cause...and for that...you have our applause, thanks, and best wishes for a wonderful 2013.
Once you get in...well it is worth it. However, I have trouble getting past the thought of getting in.
Kudos to Matty's Bar in New Berlin WI for this charity event and their support of the community!
Good morning Sally & David,
Great event..I like this Matty's Bar in New Berlin WI..and the fun turns into dollars for the Special Olympics..sweet!!! Every year my son and his swimming friends partake in the New Years Day Polar Bear Plunge in Barton Springs in Austin Texas! The water is about 40 degrees so it's pretty cold in your bathing suit! It's just a tradition they like to do!!
Getting past the chattering of teeth and goose bumps....we know that the cause is a heart warming event...you will see our check....don't look for a bathing suit !
I have a small heater that I place outside my shower because I can't stand being cold when I'm done showering....I certainly couldn't handle a polar plunge! LOL!
Aww sure you could Sharon...your heart would be warm knowing the good you are doing for a worthy cause.
Sally & David- I would love to see this! Not sure I could do it but you never know. You've written a beautiful post calling out your friend "Mr. Matty".
I think I'd like to be a spectator for this polar plunge! :) I'm not so sure I would volunteer to be a participant. What a great idea for a great cause.
Matt Anderson puts his money, time and effort where his heart is...bigger than anyone's we know !
I want a video and a bunch of photos of the two of you taking the polar bear plunge! I hear it really wakes you up!
I LOVE Polar plunges, they are so fun to watch and such a great cause. We have ours about the same time. The Ocean makes it more fun for those who try to not dive in in do the chicken walk in and as they try to run out, the wave knocks them in to an eruption of cheers followed by loads of donations from the spectators.
Hello Sally and David,
Great local blog - the polar plunges always draw a crowd, these days I watch the fun rather than jumping into the icy abyss...but for this worthy cause, I might have to take the leap.
I know some people like cold weather and good for them but to so in the water they have to be brain dead. Hope they have a big turnout and I bet the doctor does also it will be a busy time for him (her) a few days afterwards
I can't imagine a plunge in Wisconsin, even in NJ I think these people are nuts! But for a great cause, I'd be one of the chickens!
