No longer will Massachusetts be loosing our talent to the West Coast due to the addition of a movie studio being built currently in Massachusetts.
A new "New England Studio" is under construction, just 29 miles outside of Boston. It is being headlined as a new State-of-the-Art television and film studio (www.NEStudios.com) and should be up and running by mid 2013.
Full film making as well as television programming production will make Massachusetts competitive with the most highly regarded studios throughout the United States and the Globe.
As most of you know, I followed the process of Plymouth Rock Studios very closely, attending planning board meetings, community involvement meetings and more which peaked my interest in bringing the movie industry to Massachusetts. I saw first hand the excitement of the attendees as well as their concerns and was really consumed by the powerful positive energy it created. I have investigated the tax incentives associated with Massachusetts and the film industry and this type of business in our backyard.
After interviewing local vendors, mostly your smaller local businesses and the reactions of bystanders viewing local film production, I believe the film industry in Massachusetts will increase the desire of Tourism to our state, everyone loves to connect with a background site in an award winning movie. We will also encourage our very talented graduates from schools such as Emerson to stay in Massachusetts.
Plymouth Rock Studios in Plymouth, Massachusetts as well as a 12 stage motion picture studio at the former
South Weymouth Air Station which had been announced by the California based International Studio Group appear to be still on the back burner of HollywoodEast in Massachusetts.
The New England Studio will include four 18,000 square foot Hollywood style sound stages, production support offices, mill, storage buildings and sound stage support areas, totalling 126,000 square feet.
The new studio in Massachusetts is being constructed on a fifteen acre site on Hospital Road in Devens, Massachusetts formerly known to many of us as the Fort Devens Military Base.
New England Studios are bringing jobs to Massachusetts and they are also offering some upcoming educational programs regarding professional video lighting.
