Carmel-by-the-Sea is known as a "site location" for weddings. Not only are there some amazing resorts and chapels to hold the wedding ceremony, but Carmel Beach is the number one location for wedding photographs.
The sunset hour is so spectacular, that some brides and grooms actually take their entourage down on the sand for their official wedding photographs. Others have their bridal limos stop at the top of the bluff and pose right at sunset.
Here is a couple on the beach that braved the sand. Other beach goers are very respectful and let them get on with the photography. Naturally, I had to snap a couple of shots.
As you can see, the light has a slight rose hue which makes the scenery very romantic.

I specialize in oceanfront and oceanview property in California and Hawaii.

31 Comments on Visitors from around the world come for their "Wedding by the Sea"
Debbie: That's it. No shoes.
Maria: And this is in January!
Maureen: Dogs still run off leash on the beach. One came over to the bride and wanted to play.
Judith: It's so easy to get excited about this beautiful place. And it's a photographer's dream.
Gail: We'll have to meet her sometime!
Mike: I would do that too in the Caribbean. Here, it is mostly formal, even on the beach.
Paula: The weather has been absolutely fabulous. These photos might have looked very different.
Joan: It's great. Whatever kind of wedding you have here, big or small, they all end up here at the beach for photos.
Weddings on the beach can be great for good photos Hella; thanks for sharing yours.
Tom: The lighting with that rose hue is what really caught my attention. Bet they got some beautiful photos for their wedding album.

Absolutely beautiful - Carmel by the Sea AND the beaches, from my visit quite some time ago.
Both our daughters got married on the beach here recently, one in Cardiff and 2 years later one in Carlsbad. It's the place I would choose if I were to do it again.

Hi Hella,
What a beautiful location to have a wedding! Or, at least to have wedding photographs taken. I can see by your photos why Carmel by the Sea is so popular ... thanks for sharing your photos!
I've been to several beach weddings and I've been to and love beautiful Carmel by the Sea (Maureen's home town), but I've never been to a Carmel by the Sea beach wedding. That would be fun.
WOW!!!! What a spot!! Carmel is just beautiful, keep up the good work and good luck with your business in 2013, E
There is nothing like an beach wedding. Maybe in my next life, my wife and I can get married on the beach.
Make it a great week!
Hella from your photographs, I can see why newlyweds choose to have their photos taken on the beach at Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Inviting the whole beach and ocean to your wedding? Now that is an occasion you will always remember...good post
Jeff: If there are venues to have the actual ceremony on the beach as they have in Cardiff and Carlsbad, that is the ultimate wedding in my books. But then, I love the ocean.
Carie: You can't take a bad photo here, haven't you heard? LOL
Lloyd: I've never been INVITED to a beach wedding here, but gone to quite a few.
Ed and Tracy: Thank you so much.
Joe: People get "re-married" here all the time. Come visit.
Michael: It is an unwritten rule here.
Richie: And the price is right.
Have always wanted to come to Carmel. I know several people who got married there, but live here.
Carmel-by-the-Sea sounds an interesting place. The pictures you posted speak for it.
Debbie: It is a truly wonderful place to live. I lived here for 10 years, and still part time.
Ridhi: There are so many things to do. And a walking town, plus dog friendly. What more can one want, right?
That's really sweet. I don't think there is any outdoor venue as attractive as a beach for a wedding.
Chris: This is one you cannot stage, although you are still at the mercy of mother nature.
I was at a wedding one time by the beach. .you are right. .they are romantic and unforgettable. .
Fernando: Whether the entire wedding is oceanfront or just the photos, there is magic there.
