3 Greener Clean Up Tips!

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Platinum

Here are 3 easy ways to make sure you are cleaning with the good, green stuff:

1. Scan the label. Cleaning products are not required to list ingredients. However, some do voluntarily. One rule: avoid anything that contains glycol ether, which has been linked in animal studies to reproductive problems.

2. Sniff it out. Avoid products with the word "Fragrance" in the ingredient list. Most fragrances are chemically created and can include toxic substances.

3. Look for the green seal. Seek out products with a little green check mark, the stamp of the Green Seal independent certification program. It signifies that the manufacturer has avoided using toxic ingredients.

Good advice, Kristin. I buy nothing with fragrance, and all of the cleaners I buy have been "smell-tested." I'm so darned sensitive to fragrances that I can't take any chances on developing a reaction to a bathroom cleaner while I'm cleaning the bathroom :)

Kristin -  thanks for the green tips.   We already have item in our kitchen cupboards that we can easily mix together to make a cleaning compound instead of buying toxic stuff.

Kristin - that is good advice. I used a product last week that had a "lemon" fragrence and was sick for the rest of the day.
