You know that I am a very conscientious recycler. I really like to see conservation efforts in our county on a large scale.
And, I am a big supporter of anything we can do locally to win the war on waste.
And, that is why I am so proud to announce that the Wright County 2012 Outstanding Conservationist of the Year Award was presented to the Crow River Organization of Water (CROW).
“Diane Sander and Dan Nadeau of CROW have brought conservation to Wright County in numerous forms, some of which include the annual Crow River cleanup event, a rain barrel program, a photo contest, and educational programs and activities. Focused on improving water quality, CROW monitors the health of lakes and streams, organizes citizen monitoring programs and performs watershed assessments. CROW has had remarkable success in partnering locally with agencies and landowners to get water quality projects “on the ground,” as the SWCD likes to say; some of these conservation practices include rain gardens, streambank and shoreland stabilization and installing native buffers. By working with agricultural producers, conservation projects like grass waterways, sediment control structures and feedlot improvements promote the combination of conservation and farming.
CROW is a joint powers organization that covers the Crow River Watershed, which includes portions of 10 adjoining counties. The Wright Soil and Water Conservation District (SW-CD) selected CROW for the award presented in December at the Annual Convention of the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Many thanks have been expressed to CROW for their contributions to conservation.”
The above information was highlighted in the Wright County Journal Press, and I thank them for allowing me to share this information with you.
