Patriots Football

Are You Ready For Some Football?!?!?!?!

Do you love football?  Are you a New England Patriots fan?

If you live in the Portsmouth NH area and are looking for some Super Bowl fun for this coming game on Sunday, Feb 3rd, there are lots of options for you!  How great is that?!?!?

I read an article recently that was talking about the cost going to the Super Bowl this year, and they compared that cost with the cost of the median home in some states back in 2000, per the US census.  That median price was $133,000.  Did you know that you, and 9 of your closest dearest friends could go to the Super Bowl this year, and watch the game in style in one of the luxury boxes for just a mere $30,000 more?

A little too rich for your pocketbook?  It certainly is for mine!  Another article I read said that you could find, if you were lucky, tickets for seats on the 50-yard line for $8,500 to close to $20,000, or end-zone tickets for about $5,000 each.  Hmmm, that's still pretty steep for most people, including me.

Scoreboard TVs

So, how about sticking closer to home here in the NH Seacoast area?  Hang out with friends and family, or head out to one of the variety of places around the area that offer multiple TVs to catch the game on.

Here are some choices for you:

  • Have a bunch of football fan friends over, and have a bunch of subs made for you by the Kittery Project Graduation at Traip Academy in Kittery Maine.  You can pick them up or have them delivered right to your house.  Food's all done for you here!

  • Check out the Ioka Theater in downtown Exeter.  The Ioka features 'the biggest screen north of Boston', 20 feet wide.  That's a HUGE TV for sure!  Cool food specials during the game here - 6pm to 10pm.

  • The Scoreboard Sports Grille in Portsmouth has over 80 TVs to watch the game on, and a great place to enjoy the camaraderie of a lot of other football fans.  Bring your friends or just be part of the crowd here!  This is a great place to go and be a part of a large group of Patriot's fans.

Paddy's American Grille - Portsmouth NH
  • Paddy's American Grille at Pease International Tradeport has some good-sized TV's scattered around their bar, and plenty of comfy seating areas from which to enjoy the game.  Play a little pool while cheering on the Patriots, and enjoy some yummy food, too.  Pull up a seat and enjoy the nice crackling fire roaring in their fireplace.  They've got a Patriot's Super Bowl buffet this Sunday during the game, and local radio station, WHEB, will be there for the game, too.

  • We have a new restaurant and pub with lots of TVs just down the road in North Hampton - Wings Your Way.  They just opened up a month or so ago, but they've been filling their parking lot since opening day.

    Go Patriots!!

These are just a few of the fun places around the Seacoast NH area to watch this year's Super Bowl game from.  If you have a favorite place that I didn't mention, feel free to leave a comment and include that location.

Enjoy the Super Bowl, and GO PATRIOTS!!!!   ....Just in case you were wondering who I'm rooting for....  ;-)

Ann,

No offense to the Pats as they are a favorite team of mine but I grew up going to the Giants games in old Yankee stadium and have seen the them win the super-bowl so I have to go with the Giants even through the Pats should win on paper. They have more to lose and more pressure to win or the 18-0 record is nothing. The Giants weren't even picked to make it this far.

Ann~

And I LOVE the way you tied the Big Game into some very pertinent facts about real estate...and then wove the entire tapestry together with a great suggestion for the neighborhoods...

Ann, Great post, especially for those new to the area. It sounds like we will be cheering for the Patriots here too - we have some company now that is originally from New England so it should be fun to watch with them.

And...where will Ann and Bear spend Super Bowl Sunday? I think we'll be at home so Jay can sit in his favorite chair and scream his brains out!

I guess there will not be too many open house's or showings on Sunday in New England.

Hi Linda - You can imagine how excited this whole part of the country is about this game!!

Hi Missy - thanks, and THANKS for pulling for the Patriots!!!  It's going to be a good game, no doubt!

Hey Neal - ah come on, you can root for the Patriots, I know you can!!  BUT, I do understand your affinity for the Giants, since you used to live right there.  By the way, that 18-0 record stands for a LOT, no one else has done that.

Hi janeAnne - wow, I didn't even think about what I wrote that way, but you're right, that's exactly what I wrote.  Thanks!!!

I hope you all are able to watch Sunday's game AND root for the Patriots!!  (including you, Neal!)

Hi Steve - yay, glad you'll be rooting for the Patriots, too. I bet your company will really appreciate that, too.

Hey Monika - we'll probably be at home, but going to one of the places I mentioned will be awfully tempting.  Oftentimes, we head to the Scoreboard to watch games because they have so many TVs and there's lot of seating.  Watching Jay and Bear watch the game together would be a riot - both would be loudly calling the game from their chairs!!   ;-)   They could both do their stats comparisons...

Hi Chris - I did have one set of buyers rule out this Sunday just because it's Super Bowl Sunday.  I got a kick out that, but could certainly appreciate it.

Thanks for the comments!

Oh Ann you on't know how excited I am for Sunday. I am a die hard fan and season ticket holder! I know I could never watch in a bar though. I need to be able to have a great spot in front of the TV and be able to hear everything the announcers are saying.

Hi Bill - you have season tickets?!?!?!?  WOO HOO!  I know many people who'd love to have those, too.

I do kinda like the environment when you're in a sports bar and everyone's into the game - almost like being there.  But, as you said, you can't always hear everything the announcers are saying, and sometimes they say some good things not to be missed.

GO PATRIOTS!!

Ann I will be in front of my TV set.  You can't beat that seat or the price :)

I love the Super Bowl games but I can't think of a lot of other things I would do with that money besides spending it on one game.

George - that's just what we'll be doing, too - comfortably seated in front of our own TV.  I'm looking forward to seeing what the commercials will be this year, too.

Jay - somehow I knew exactly where you'd be!!  ;-)

Katerina - it looks like quite a few of us will be doing the same thing, and love that you'll be rooting for the Patriots, too!

Go PATRIOTS!!

Ann... you hit on some key points....  if you do it right, it could be insanely costly to go to the Super Bowl. And what made me chuckle in shame the other night, when Fox news was reporting the bad economy in Arizona and the housing market, that it will bring in over 400 million just in regards to the Super Bowl. How about helping 40 foreclosures with that money. And they would still have raked in 385 million....  hey, having fun is great. But how about putting some of that money back into the economy before there is no place or stadium to have a Super Bowl. It will be bad by the 3rd quater of this year.

Anyhoo... I am babbling.....  and the foreclosure crisis can be pointed at many different people. But we need to start some where.  In regards to the game, hate me, but I think I am leaning towards the Giants, even though I am an Eagles fan. But I will say, if the Pats win, that it would be an awesome record and year. Just hope it's a good game.

Anne, I was at home in front of the big screen, we had plenty of homemade food so no one would miss a second of the game. Too bad we lost :(
