The government doesn't have any money to pay for anything.

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

The government doesn’t have any money to pay for anything. How often do you hear the expression:

“I think the government should pay for …”

It is often easy to forget that the government doesn’t have any money to pay anything. Governments at all levels, federal, state, county and local municipality must collect the money from SOMEONE to pay for anything.

In any statement that involves public expenditure, one should replace the word “government” with “taxpayers.”

Because ultimately, the taxpayer must bear the burden of funding the government.

I will always represent the interests of taxpayers first and foremost, and will strive to reduce expenses and control the size of state government.

Note: Richard Weisser is a candidate for GA House District 71.

Not something we as voters like to hear, but it is so true the only money the government has they get from us!  Good public policy is fiscal responsibility.  Voters in Georgia's 71st House District are sure to listen.

I hope this includes no money for a new stadium for the Atlanta Falcons.  I love our hometown team, but since we have no money I don't understand how we can justify contributing hundreds of millions to towards a new dome.

Richard, this is a true statement!    Yesterday at closing of a government worker, he was talking about how they finally cleaned the ducts in his office where they spend 12 hour days at their computers - and the BLACK stuff they took out of the vents was totally disguesting.     After 11 years in this office, this was the first time they had done this!

Hey Richard,

Most people don't know it, but neither were taxes on income for the government a short time ago.  I like your perspective.  Have a great day!

Richard -- that is a great platform to be running on.  Especially with so many governments having hocked their futures (when things looked all bright and they thought income increases would go on forever) -- one needs to be fiscally conservative - or we will all be working for the government.

Richard - Do I ever agree with you! YES! I love it when I hear elected officials talk about government money... it's our money! I'm so glad you are running for office! Way to go! I can't think of a better person for the job!

If we would only cut the deficit we would not be paying so much interest and our taxes could be lower.

I don't think the "average" person understands the concept of real money when it comes to government spending!
