I love my job.
One of my favorite parts is preparing for a class that I am going to teach. Anyone casually walking by my desk would think 'all this idiot does all day is play on Facebook.' OK, that's partially true, but don't blow my cover! But for the last few days I got to really dive into Facebook and try to find some great examples of the ways that real estate agents share things about their business that don't force feed their friends a huge dose of 'It's a great time to buy and I'm an awesome real estate agent so you should use me.'
Hitting Your Social Media Sweet Spot
In our webinar today, hosted by Market Leader, I had a chance to share some different ways that you can market your business on Facebook without being that ass that everyone gets sick of and eventually blocks. Our topic was finding your social media sweet spot. Here is a small sample of a few things I shared
- You should really focus on one medium
- It's alright to talk about your real estate business on your personal page
- Sheldon Neal has a really awesome marketing idea that he is using on his Facebook page. He told me in a phone conversation yesterday it may be the best marketing idea he has ever had and it's getting him a ton of real life exposure for his brand.
- If you don't like using a social network, you have no business using it to market your business
- How setting up lists in Facebook can improve your Edgerank (and what is Edgerank) and make sure your message gets to the appropriate people
- A great set of real estate scripts that can allow you to take something you learn on Facebook about someone in your sphere and turn it into an opportunity to reach out to your sphere personally
- Some good ways to share your IDX website that might actually get people to click on it
You Can Target Your Message Based on Geography
There were a few other things in there in addition to those including an awesome tip about geographic lists and how you can use the geographic lists that Facebook sets up for you in order to focus your content on people in a certain geography.
If you didn't get a chance to join me for the call live, or you did and you just want to more easily digest some of the things I was sharing, here is the recording of the webinar. Enjoy..........now back to playing on Facebook work.
