Persistance

Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty, LLC

This weathered, old, battered, scraggly looking tree reminds me of life in real estate sometimes.  Alright, maybe it even reminds me of some amazing Realtor’s that have been in the business since the 70’s or early 80’s.  It is a survivor.

Scraggly Tree at Garden of the Gods

Real estate can be a very hard business.  No matther how hard as we try, we can’t create a situation in which every client has a smooth closing on the house of their dreams.

For starters – many dream houses are just that.  Dreams.  For example, it is pretty darn hard for the first time home buyers to buy a newer three bedroom home on about 50 acres of mountain property that is fenced, has a four stall horse barn and has a stream running through it.  Of course, the property needs to be within 20 minutes of town and cost less than $200,000.   No matter how nice and sweet the couple is, these homes just don’t exist in this price range in the Colorado Springs and/or the Denver Metro areas.

This tree has had a tough life.  However, LOOK AT THE VIEW it has!

The real estate profession is not for the faint hearted.  However, the postives associated with this business are amazing.

We can’t tailor make the situations in life, but we can tailor make the attitude to fit them –

I think many of us "experienced" agents would love to look as good as that tree!

I think real estate Sondra being a people business the agent is like the shepherd "guiding" the client within the bounds of reality. New home builders say no new home is perfect. Mortgage people bound what is affordable for a couple's income and expenses. Everyone wants champagne taste but pretty hard on a beer budget. It can be a tough business for sure but with calm communication and persistence like your wonderful tree growing out of the rocks it is very rewarding to come up with the best solution in the end and enjoy that view. A good attitude as you point out helps out a LOT!!

Ahhhh, Sondra.....I can't tell you how happy I am that you are your wise ways are back in the Rain! Love this---and it speaks to so many different trials in life. Trees have such strong voices. I love them. And they ARE persistent. Ask any acorn!

Zig Zigler--gosh I haven't heard from HIM in awhile. But, a classic nonetheless--just like you!

I had to laugh at your first time buyer story. I've had several like that. They want acreage, a stream would be nice and a mountain view...and oh yes, I don't want to pay a lot for that property.

Sondra-I love your analogy and your pics are wonderful. Such beauty you have in Colorado.  P.S. I would still try the cayenne pepper as the squirrels don't like it.
