Do you have a winter emergency kit in your car ?

I do not like to drive in winter when there is snow. I am glad that I have a job where we can cancel appointments if there is too much snow unlike other professions where they have to go to work in bad weather.

There are times we too need to go out in bad weather so it is good to be prepared.

I always make sure that my car has a full tank of gas when we are expecting major snow storms.

Other things that I have most of the time are  :

 small snow shovel

kitty litter

flashlight

booster cable

hand warmers

cell phone and car charger

windshield de-icer spray

and I  always carry bottled water and some snacks - protein bars

The most important item for me is the cell phone . I never leave home without it.

Gita,  excellent advice for most of the nation this winter.  Let me add:  gloves, scarf, hat, sweatshirt, boots and maybe heavier jacket/coat with hood.  Who cares what they look like in a blizzard, but you will be glad to find them in your trunk.

Our southern friends carry water bottles, snacks and umbrella just in case.

Have wonderful day and stay warm & safe. (BTW my area has two feet of snow on ground but we are still driving from here to there.)

Hey, Gita, add water bottles to the list. I am on day three of no junk food out of a ten day sprint. Reblogged with this caption.... Uh oh. I have been out stocking my used new Jeep called Blue. I thought I had the emergency items covered until I saw this. Shovel and de icer for the windshield are great ideas. Could not breathe around the kitty litter, though! Cell phone...TWO!

By the way, why the kitty litter? Must do something useful. Curious.

Thanks to Cheryl for the reblog. Good reminders. Along with the cell phones, don't forget extra cords and car chargers.

Cheryl, You use kitty litter instead of the chemical "ice melts".

Cheryl, Good to read that you are on day 3. Good luck.

Margaret, Thanks for the reminder. I meant to go out today to get a car charger.

Helpful to let a co to couple of people know you'll be out and your itinerary too, with a couple of times to check in to confirm you're OK.
