21 Comments on A Thought I Had Today
That's a nice analogy that you used. Thanks for posting that!
We have to get out of those hallways and go open the next door. No one likes feeling stuck for too long. It is uncomfortable to say the least.
Hi David, Aside from your topic - I'm betting that picture came from the MLS !!! LOL
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Robert Frost
The road less traveled is a Great Book. When you read it & go back 5 years later to read again it is a completly different book. A must read. Jimmy
I am always trying to find different options more because I'm trying to find something that works easier
An interesting question. I agree that staying in stuck is the most uncomfortable place to be. I think it is important to take risks and open some doors.
My journey never seems to be in a straight line, but rather one curve after another.....when the roads does straighten some, I fear that I will linger and look for another curve....always on th move.....
I don't know if I am looking for another direction, or a new distraction. HA. I'm just hoping today takes me down that long hallway, uninterrupted.
David and Bonnie,I will look at hallways entirely differently from now on! I can identify with Gary's comment above about seeking distractions!
If there is not a light at the end of the tunnel then we blaze a new trail.
Sometimes that EXIT sign is not a new beginning, but an easy way out. How many times have you taken the easy way out? How many times have you persevered all the way to the end, despite having an easy out option?
It is all about choices.
The wind blows and I catch a ride. Sometimes I sit one out...Always a wind coming in and life is good
First off - WOW! You have all made my day. Little did I know that randomly "journaling" would be a feature post. I appreciate the responses very much. I will try to answer each of you and I want to apologize in advance if I inadvertently leave out anyone.
Sarah & Lee - We are creatures of habit aren't we? Even if the habit is nt having a habit it can become routine and let's face it, people resist change!
Marc - Thanks!
Gary - Getting stuck is uncomfortable. It is always nice to know there are options.
Bill - The picture is not from MLS. It is actually from an inspection for a commercial client last summer.
John - Robert Frost is important to our office gal. She received a Robert Frost book of poetry from her Grandmother many years ago. She embraces a road less travelled attitude and sort of smirks at conformity. LOL
Jimmy Faulkner - You have the perfect name! Have you written anything lately? : )
Ed - You are right -"travelling around your elbow" so to speak (if you have ever heard that old expression) can become a real time-waster. Finding new ways to be more prouctive and efficient are always great!
Joan - Thanks! I am full of questions some days. You are correct - risks are important to development and learning. It is how our characters are tested : )
Shar - Bends ad curves are advantageous, if we navigate them proficiently : )
Gary - Distractions are.... look a shiny object... Wait.... what were we discussing?
Sharon - Glad to offer a new perspective on a boring old hallway.
Steve - Thanks for the insight. Blazing new trails leads to new discovery and invention, I am told.
Brian - EXIT can be an easy way out. Sometimes it is ok to bolt out the door. You have to know what you want and the route to get there. It isn't good to just simply exit, though. One must understand the consequences.
Richie - Life is good! You are absolutely correct : )
David, I'm a run down he hall kind of person normally but there is the occasion where the exit sign is appealing.
David: When I was young, I used to stick things out longer than necessary, but if I then took that turn to right or left, I knew it was the right decision. Not any more. If I realize something is not working, or it ceases to interest me, I make a change to the right or left. Life has become too short.
Connie - You are right. It is good to know the options!
Hella - Good for you. Knowing when to incorporate change for your own well-being is important.
Hi David and Bonnie,
I am always trying to think outside the box. Now all I have to do is figure out what to do with the business I generate by being a different type of inspector. Many local Realtors here in Carlsbad are not wanting to change one bit. I have to convince them to do so.
Have a great day in the Atlanta area, and thanks for the analogy.
Best, Clint McKie
