GEORGETOWN, SC – A job fair in Georgetown early next month is open to anyone looking for a job, and any business looking to hire.

The Georgetown County Library and S.C. Works Waccamaw will be holding the fair on Saturday, February 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Georgetown Library on Cleland Street.

"The more, the merrier," said Library Director Dwight McInvaill. "There are census tracts in our community where unemployment now exceeds 33 percent. With this job fair, we hope to give workers and businesses a chance to meet each other, with less pressure than an interview setting."

The job fair will also offer a "resume doctor," one-on-one interview practice, assistance with online job searches and applications, information about continuing education, and a business fashion display, organizers state in a news release.

"Our inaugural job fair, held six months ago, was really gratifying, with 150 participants and 14 businesses," said McInvaill. "We hope to bring even more people and groups together this time. Georgetown County is combating the recession one job at a time."

Businesses interested in attending the job fair can e-mail librarian Heather Pelham at hpelham@gtcounty.org or call S.C. Works Waccamaw representative Aaron Johnson at (843) 546-4231.
