Yesterday I wrote about National Pie Day and today it is National Peanut Day. So in answer to Connie Harvey's question, if I were to put the two together, I would have my Mother's favorite dessert, Peanut Butter Pie. She discovered this delightful treat when she lived in Pennsylvania. Now anytime we are at an Amish restaurant, that is the first thing she looks for on the menu!

The average person eats more than six pounds of peanut products each year! I am convinced it is the children that are tilting these averages. After all didn't we all have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch on a regular basis.
Peanut butter is a great source of protein and can help lower blood sugar in diabetics. Please check out the link for additional information.
I guess I have outgrown the PB&J sandwich, although I never tried it Elvis style ( with bananas) or Hemingway (with onion slices). When I need my peanut butter fix, I think I will opt for a peanut butter cookie, or peanut sauce on whatever is in the refrigerator.
Now it is time to celebrate National Peanut Butter Day - - - How would you like yours?
