Is your bathroom stocked with Qtips, wipes, lotions, body wash, bandaides, deodorant, body wash, shampoo, conditioner? You know, the basics?? Like yours (probably) my bathroom is and it's hard to imagine not having those things many would call basics BUT our troops overseas go without those things many days. Imagine not being able to shower and relying on baby wipes for cleanliness? Imagine not having enough baby wipes to go around...yes, it's like that. Or being cold?
There is a website to visit -- anysoldier.com -- the mission of anysoldier.com is to provide the information and contacts necessary to send support and care packages to our troops "over there"... Some of our troops do not receive mail of any kind from home. Can you help? Will you help? please do.
I sent my first care package this week. It is going to an Army unit of 150 males and 14 women. In this box I sent hot cocoa mixes, hot oat meal, popcorn, drink mixes you poor into water, ramen, raisins and chap stick....all items on the wish list of this group. A fairly good sized box is about $14 to send USPS flat rate to an APO/FPO address. It is addictive, I tell you.
My next box is going to be toiletries (they tell you not to mix food and toiletries) and hopefully some DVD's and movies...I'm planning one or two boxes a month.
I have a one person appraisal office here in Huntsville, TX -- one or two boxes a month isn't much but it makes a difference. How many boxes can your OFFICE send? How much of a difference can your group make? I'm asking, well, begging, okay, challenging you...please get involved..send a care package...please! Pretty please? These troops are there because they volunteered -- let's show our support, our thanks, our love! It will change a life -- maybe even yours.
At the very least, go to www.anysoldier.com and read...pick a soldier or two and read about their lives. Please!
