What is my Best Real Estate Advice, Buying and Selling Homes? I’ve answered hundreds of questions on Real Estate forums and written many blog posts (over 4500 answers on one site alone). I like helping people and sharing some of my knowledge and experience. I’ve received some attention for my advice, Best Answer Awards, Thumbs Up, complements from my colleagues both in their answers and from referrals. My greatest rewards have come from people reading my blogs and answers and seeking me out to represent them.
In answering all these questions, I’ve been asked if I’m giving away all my secrets. The good news is no, I keep my best material for my clients. If I were to give away my best advice, my negotiation tactics and techniques, they could easily be used against me. A good chef teaches cooking basics, but keeps some recipes to themselves and the same is true in this business.
I’ve found in my nearly 30 years of professional selling that some scenarios repeat themselves and a good technique well applied yields consistent results. Yet even after all this time I find new situations or variations that require adjustment, thought and creativity to work through. I get a kick out of these challenges and am never to proud to get advice or to listen for a better solution than I may have had in mind. The primary thing is always to keep the goal in mind, what does my client want to accomplish? There can be a temptation to put my ego ahead of my client’s goals and win the argument. Fortunately I’ve already learned the lesson that winning an argument can lose the deal.
