These People Want Their Backyard on the Rocks

Rocking horse

I noticed that a lot of Colorado people like to landscape with rocks. I am in a new community in south Aurora and this home backs the house I am holding open houses for. Looks like he has expanded the patio with rocks and built a barbecue and sitting area. There are still some big rocks in the yard. Wonder what he is going to do next.

So far it looks pretty good.

Will, I love landscaping with rocks. This will look so nice when they get some lush green grass back there

I, too, like landscaping with rocks.  That backyard looks like it is going to be beautiful.  Definitely adds value.

Sure does. Looks very nice Will. Can't wait to see how it is finished off (if you happen to be around to see the finished project that is)

I think this family will need a larger patio to hold everybody that will be coming to the cookout.

Looks nice, but I'll take my "scotch" on the rocks please............on that patio would work.

Hi Will, I too love stone.  Stone houses, stone fireplaces, stone patios and etc.  That yard will be lovely when it is finished.

I'm thinking our community should do some landscaping with rock gardens.  Nothing grows in the summer when there is a drought....which is a common condition for us in the summer.  Rocks would at least look the same as when you placed them.

My guess Will is that he is a mason and is applying his trade right in his backyard.

Will, it is so funny how different the areas of the US are with regards to landscaping.  When I lived in NM, rocks were a big deal to decorate with.  Here, they just get in the way of the septic tank or drilling the well, lol.

Will-Rocks are used in landscaping here too. They can be used as focal points or as accessories to other features. And you usually can't beat the cost (usually free).

Hmmmm..... this one reminds me of one of my new neighbors who bought a small corner lot. He started out doing some unusual landscaping with shrubs and stones that turned into a bridge with some water flowing underneath, a wall of stone, a stone bench, big rocks all over the lawn, and more .... then at Christmas, you can't imagine how much more he added.

I think in this photo the guy would have been better off expanding the patio to give him more room. That's my opinion but to each his own.

Good luck holding open house on the other side.

Will  Rocks don't require much water so they will cut down on the utility bills.  I knew one lady that painted every rock...that was pretty loud in the neighborhood!  Enjoy your day!

I really like hardscaping.  Are these rocks REALLY from their backyard?  They look like manufactured stone.  Anyway, it's nice, but I agree with Patricia - the patio should have been expanded.  :)
