The Rowdiest Hole On The PGA Tour!
If there were an award for “the rowdiest hole on the PGA Tour” the hands down winner would be the 16th at the Tournament Players Club in Scottsdale Arizona, home of the Phoenix Open since 1986 and a part of the Tournament Players Club network of golf courses operated by the PGA Tour.
Fans have crowned the Phoenix Open as the “Greatest Show on Grass” and a big part of that is the rowdy, party-like atmosphere that you feel at the 16th.
The 16th hole is surrounded on all sides by a stadium that seats 20,000 fans, not counting corporate sky boxes, making it one of the most unique holes on the PGA tour. Skybox tickets are the most in-demand of the entire event.
For local golf fans, ASU students and alumni the 16th is known as “The House that Phil Built” for the former ASU Sun Devil and 2 time Phoenix Open Champ Phil Mickelson.
And while "Lefty" is usually the most popular player at the Open and has certainly had his memorable moments perhaps the most memorable moment in Phoenix Open history is when Tiger Woods hit “The Shot Heard Round the World”. As seen in the video above.
