I knew, but I didn't know

me reading As I was reading over my last blog before posting it, my phone rang. I didn't think anything of it at first. Things have been pretty dead lately as far as real estate is concerned. I figured it was my husband, family member, or worse, a telemarketer. I didn't recognize the number, so I thought it was indeed the dreaded telemarketer. Usually, I just won't answer it. But yesterday I did.

A lady's voice asked if this was Christy. I confirmed I was in fact me. She then tells me that she read one of my blog posts that I wrote back in November. I thought that was awesome just to know that someone was actually reading. But it got even better than that. Her family is moving from Washington state to the Savannah area in the spring.

We talked for awhile. She had a bunch of questions about the area, schools, and work. Although they aren't planning on buying immediately, they are open to do so if the right property comes along.

I know that I have read from many people on here that blogs are good and that they help get your name out there. I did really know that. But at the same time I didn't know that I would get my name out there. I didn't think my blog would get noticed. It's like when something good or bad happens and you think that it couldn't happen to you.  Well, it can and it does.

So Let's all Blog the Night Away!

Congratulation.  In this business you never know who is going to be at the other end of the phone.  I hope you will have a closed deal from this lead. And yes, blogging is getting your name out there.

Hi Christy, Enjoyed your blog. Things are sure different here. You have a beautiful smile. Get out in front of the folks you know and let your smile GLOW. I was inspired to write a blog in response to yours. Our office is wild and crazy right now, but we're in Central Florida. I'm the new "kid" on the block, so I have a lot to learn, but I remember when I wanted to sell my house, and I wasn't living in it, somehow, the realtor who finally got the listing FOUND me. I had left no indication as to my whereabouts at the house or with neighbors. I was totally burned out, on the verge of financial destruction, and then he knocked on my door and told me he was a realtor. I froze for a second then I said, how would you like a listing. I gave him the address and described the property and then he froze for a second and said, "I've been trying to locate you for months." SURPRISE. He listed the house and it sold in 3 days. Closing took a couple of months, but the offer was there, well supported, and well, the rest is history. So dear Christy, get that smile out there and knock on doors. I think they call it "BEAT FEET." You have the GLOW to do it. You go girl. Good luck in everything.

I just moved here for this job - to Central Florida from Central New York. New to everything, but that can be a great change even though it's a bit scary. I'm 61, so it's a strange time for me to start a new carrier in a new location, but who knows. There's a reason for everything. Your blog was the first one I read and I knew I just had to drop you a note. Hang in there. Janet

Christy- That is great. As a newbie to blogging I really enjoy hearing success stories. It just gives more validation to the need for it.  Although I am now blogging to get my expertise out there, I can't wait for the day someone calls me wanting to move to Washington State!  :)

Jennifer: I totally agree. I usually just don't answer the out of state calls or 1-800 numbers because they are usually telemarketers. I am definitely glad I decided to answer. I was prepared for the sale pitch but I never got it.

Janet: Thank you so much. I am glad my blog inspire you. I know how it is to be new. I have only been here in the Savannah area for almost 6 months. I have spent that time getting to know the area and getting settled. Now I need to focus on getting some business. I know I should get out there. And although I am an outgoing person, I am somewhat scared to go around door to door. I am working on it though.

Maggie: You'll be joining blogaholic anonymous with me.

Virginia: I couldn't agree more. I love the information sharing. It's wonderful.

Thank you Rochell and Sheron

Debi: LOL...I'll try to replace the people that are leaving....

UPDATE: We are in the process of working out when they are coming to look.
