We May Be Aged – But Tenured Service We Provide

Genoa, Nevada Scene

We may be aged, but the patina of our timbers provides delightful accent to the landscape.  Our tenured service continues to those acting as guardians of this land!

This scene is along Kingsbury Grade, between Lake Tahoe and Genoa Nevada.  Genoa, Nevada is the oldest settlement in the State of Nevada.

Hi Myrl,

Some mornings I wake up and feel this old and rickety. Great photo and reminds me of our history of this wonderful state. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Myrl, Some of these old barns are so intriguing how they fit into the landscape. Nice job!

Hi Myrl,

I love how the old settlement has taken on a life of its own and works in harmony with nature and the landscaping is naturally stunning! I love the contrast between aging and the current environment. I think as people, we need to think about how beneficial it is to adjust to the coming of age instead of paying plastic surgeons to turn back the hands of time. Many try; many fail as seen in photos of Kenny Rogers, and Priscilla Presley.

You remind me that acceptance has rewards in itself.

Hi Myrl, Great photo and accents you have added to these structures from a past lifetime.  Such structures do throw one back to a time past.  It is good that they are not torn down so quickly.

Thank you.

Gloria

Alan - I'm glad you like it!

Kristin - I know the feeling well!  The history of the western states is colorful and alive.  I often marvel how you can travel down the road, and find yourself in the alternative reality of times past.

William - That part of Nevada seems so unique in its landscape.  I find it interesting to travel the 30+ miles across Kingsbury Grade from Lake Tahoe on the western slope of the Sierra Nevadas, to this location on the eastern side.  The terrain and views differ dramatically, within a half hour of driving or so.

Jennifer - One of these days I will post other pictures of Genoa, Nevada.  The community has a distinctly Old West flavor to it.  One of my favorite places in Genoa is David Walley's Hot Springs Resort - A great place to soak your bones!

John - It was a fun conversation.  I was beginning to think I was the only one among my family and friends, who had heard of "Zeitgeist". . .tsk, tsk!

Patricia - This location along the road keeps the authenticity of the early beginnings of the settlement.  I love passing by it when I'm in the area.

Gloria - I have learned over the years, to value the old landmarks.  We often seem far too keen on tearing down and building new.  No wonder we have to have the latest model of I-Phones, each time a new version is rolled out!
