Don't know enough about  ActiveRain Hit Router to even forget about it?

"Prologue what is Hit Router?"

Never heard of ActiveRain Hit Router?

Set it up.  It can send people searching for homes to your idx.  Better your idx than a lead company, etc. right?

Hit Router Set Up

The ActiveRain Hit Router is under "Other" on your (left) sidebar on your 'My Home' page on ActiveRain.  There is a lot to set up but it is worth it.

The best way to see ActiveRain's Hit Router is to sign out and look at yourself on ActiveRain.  Consumers are offered home searches on your idx if it is set up.  Otherwise the searches go to lead generator sites or others who bid on them.

Visitors on content on your ActiveRain blog, profile and individual posts are offered the option of searching for homes by city.

Thanks to Dana Basiliere of Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty asking a Hit Router question on an old post I was able to update  ActiveRain Hit Router.  Well kinda anyway.  My company is in the midst of changes... I still need to redo the searches on the ActiveRain Hit Router page again.  Right now they are just going to my search page, not to the search by community.

Dana's question is on an old post on Jeff Corbett's AR blog, What is Listing-Router and How Exactly Does It Work?

"How Exactly Does It Work?"

"For a visitor, it’s a new header that will permanently reside at the top of every page within the ActiveRain network.  It will feature a search box preceded with phrase “Find Homes for Sale in: _________”.  Once a user completes the search box and hits enter, “Hit Router” will send the user directly to an ActiveRain members existing IDX (or other property listing) site."

Jeff's post is from 2008.  In 2013 Dana asked about a little benefit of Hit Router:

Jeff, How would I know if I had accumilated points?

Accumulated points (not the same points as on ActiveRain), these are Hit Router Credits. Hit Router Credits are  money, well kind of.

"Keeping Visitors in Your Market for Yourself!"

I changed a lot of links to my NEW HER Realtors site but I forgot about the Hit Router links until yesterday.  Or I thought about Listing Router a few times and never took the time to change them all.  The links which were set up to go to Worthington, Hilliard, Westerville, Dublin etc.  home searches on my Real Living HER site must have been forwarding to a Real Living page for a few weeks now.

 Paid campaigns:

Hit Router campaigns

Current campaigns are turned off on mine and have been for months.  It may be time to turn that back on, well once I get my website /idx right.

My Markets don't cost money:

My Markets on ActiveRain Hit Router

ActiveRain says of My Markets...

"Route consumers to your sites for free when they search for home listings in your markets while viewing your profile, blog, or individual blog posts."

Epilogue...

Where do you see the credits Dana is looking for?  Same place.  The ActiveRain Hit Router is under "Other" on your (left) sidebar on your 'My Home' page on ActiveRain. Below My Markets.

Where do the credits come from?  If a consumer is in your profile, blog or individual blog post and searching for a market you are not showing, they get routed to a bidder and you get credit.

You are NOT going to get rich on the Hit Router credits...

My Hit Router page says:

Click Credits

You've accumulated $8.98 in Hit Router credit.

Or maybe you are...

Click Credits

You've accumulated $9.08 in Hit Router credit.

Wow I made 10 cents since I first started this post, yesterday.

The true value is the consumers searching on your real estate site.  Right?

If you took Hit Router off  it can be going to lead sellers like HomeGain for example

Put it on!

Look at yourself NOT signed in to AR see Search Listings on top?  That is what non members consumers see.  They also can search for content.

Search listings if you do not have Hit Router set up AR sells the opportunity to be the search to lead sellers:

IF you clicked on the magnifying glass it would pull up Burlington VT, Burlington WI, all the Burlington's in the US and CA.  If you have Burlington VT on your My Market hooked to your IDX it will send the customer there.

Put Hit Router on at least the My Markets part for leads

Signed into AR go to your home page:

Hi Maureen, I think I may be missing out on using this feature. I got confused before when trying to set it up, and never followed through with it. I may have to call you if I cannot follow your instructions above. Thanks.

Well - I have the same issue.  I just changed my website and need to go back and update the links.  But right now it's not working - maybe everyone is trying to do the same thing!

I will go back and look at my credits to see what I've got.  I've been thinking about looking at HR for a while and almost did when I checked out the Referral Network.  If I can get some more lead juice I'll take it.

I might have to re-visit this. Last time I did it I didn't really have much success. But I didnt think I set it right. Plus I didnt use a very good IDX. But this time around I might have a better chance of getting better leads once I get IDX Broker. Thanks for the remainder.

Maureen, always wondered what it was - and had some 'fake' links there but now I know.

Also, thanks for your comment with details on how to do this!

Praful I have some better links on some of mine now. Long links and I hope they will hold up.  Our brokerage is using the same vendor for our company website / idx that our former franchise did.

Ridhi I had trouble with the links before (Real Living jump search links) I will have to put a reminder up to check that these continue to work.

One thing to be aware of and check is that your links match up.  Hit Router will show you the last link you saved.  Or it shows me the last link I saved.

Some progress.  Not sure if some markets  won't just stay the short link

Jon Mine is not set up correctly due to problems with our company IDX so I need to go back and redo what I redid in January around the time I wrote this.  Or completely chuck ActiveRain and move my content to WordPress.  Decisions, decisions.
