Are You Aware of ActiveRain Contests?

There are so many things I wasn't aware of when I began blogging here in 2009. One of those things was ActiveRain contests. I just never clicked on the link at the top of the page to see what it was all about. I would encourage you to do that by the way. Click on the links at the top of the ActiveRain page.

Then when I finally saw a post promoting a contest, I didn't participate. Why? Because I didn't see how that contest would benefit my business. That is until January 2011. ActiveRain was promoting a 30 blogs in 30 days contest for 3,000 bonus points.

By that time, I had started moving up on the state leaderboard. When I first joined AR, I never thought I could earn enough points to rank highly on the state leaderboard. I suddenly realized the points I would earn through contests would move me up quicker. Especially, because not everyone participates in these challenges.

The reason ActiveRain runs contests regularly is for us to get into the habit of blogging daily. The contest is just a way for us to do this. The other reason is for us to learn something new about blogging.

For example, look at the contests offered this month:

What types of things are these contests encouraging us to do? One is about building a daily blogging regimen and using ActiveRain University to improve our posts. The other is about getting to know a fellow ActiveRain member better and promoting them through a post. The third contest is about a product that may be beneficial to out business. And the fourth is about setting a personal goal and documenting our progress in the Rain.

These contests are encouraging me to improve my business through blogging, accessing the products that may improve my business, building a strong referral base with other ActiveRain members and improving my health. Wow, that's a lot of learning and development all achieved through participating in ActiveRain contests. The added plus of all that learning are the bonus points I will receive by participating.

I am currently ranked fourth in my state, second in my county and first in my town so I'm always looking for ways to move up and ActiveRain contests give me an edge.

Are you aware of ActiveRain contests? If not, you better click on the contests link and start learning and earning through ActiveRain contests.

Note: Remember to click that Contests tabs often. Contests are being added everyday not just at the beginning of the month.

I love the contests, but I do not always participate. It's always fun to read the entries!

I probably should get involved in more contests than I do. The points are a great incentive.

I enjoy the contests; even though I don't often participate, I love reading and learning from the entries.

Melissa - I also love to read the entries. It's a great way to learn more about our fellow AR members.

Jill - They sure are.

Leah - You have to pick and choose what works best for you.

Hi Tammy, I wrote a comment but it wouldn't go through so I am trying again. The contest are fun and challenging but running a contest is a huge amount of work.

Hi Tammie,

Great post to remind us of the opportunities we can experience by participating in AR contests.  Best of continued success to you this year!

Tammie, these contest are so good - and I can give credit to one such contest for posting market reports on a regular basis.

(BTW, I had missed the contest - Get Healthy in the Rain - and will be entering in that too...

Tammie - some contests make more sense to me to participate than others(could be a comfort level too) and like you I discovered them long after I joined AR.

Tammy - Yes, the contests are definitely an easy way to gain some nice bonus pts and move up on the rankings.  It's really helpful that they added the contest tab so everyone can find them more easily.

I really don't pay attention to the contests but they are a great way to make sure that we are forming good habits.  Great reminder for us all!

Hi Tammie. Thanks for the reminder, I think I should be mindful of the AR Contests too.

William - I haven't done that yet. I can see where that would be true.

Jordan - Thanks. The same to you.

Praful - That is why we have to check the contest tab often. Yesterday morning, that contest wasn't there. By the time I finished writing the post, it was. I added it before making this post public.

Michael - I absolutely agree. The Christmas card photo contest is always a challenge for me. I don't usually participate in that one because I'm just not that artistic.

Debbie - I click that tab multiple times a month to make sure I haven't missed something.

Paddy - Agreed. I usually keep track of the contests I participated in until I get the points. Then I cross it off the list.

Michael - AR just wants us to get in the habit and they are using fun ways to do it.

Jared - That will be one of the contests that are a real challenge for me.

Kathryn - I participated in the 30 in 30 challenge to build a daily blogging regimen. Unfortunately, I was so exhausted afterwards, I quickly let my blogging fall to the wayside. Since then, I have established a daily schedule.

Jimmy - Take advantage of these contests.

Ridhi - It can't hurt.

Like you said, Tammie, I haven't really participated in any contests simply because I didn't see the business benefit of it. Thanks for spelling it out for me. I have a totally different take on the contests now, thanks to you!

At times it seems AR has so many contests going on at once that you can't keep up.  But the ones that focus on helping us blog consistently and build our business are the ones I look out for.

Hi Tammie~ I don't participate in ALL the contests, just the ones that appeal to me.  I intend to write some endorsements for Debbie Reynolds contest.  I think that's a great idea.
