How Does A Guy From L.A. Become An Expert In Sarasota & Manatee County Real Estate?

To be honest, it all begins when your wife falls in love with Sarasota.

I had a friend that was investing in Florida real estate back in 2005 and he kept telling me that I had to come out to the Tampa Bay area. I had no interest, you see, as a SoCal native I just couldn't imagine there was any place that had better beaches and lifestyle than my home in Los Angeles (I found out there are). So, there was no need to look further than Malibu or Zuma Beach for a great day on the water.

Eventually however, with the lure of a great home flipping business in mind, my buddy convinced me to take a flight out to the other West Coast, to the Florida Suncoast on the Gulf of Mexico. I landed in Tampa Bay in February with rainy weather and tornado watches; not something a Californian is very familiar with. To tell you the truth, at first I thought Tampa and St. Petersberg were just slightly different versions of a big city like L.A..

I was very disappointed. In fact, it wasn't until we made the 45 minute drive south to Sarasota and Siesta Key Beach that I became enchanted. I was nibbling at the bait my friend had put out, but I just wasn't ready to bite. So I returned home to L.A. with Sarasota in the back of my mind.

Then after letting it go as a pipe dream for quire some time, Sarasota started to drift back onto my and my wife's radar. You see, my wife had become intrigued by my journey and we finally planned a long weekend trip to show her what it was all about. Needless to say, she was hooked when she hit the ground...this was paradise in her eyes and after a couple house hunting trips and about a year later we eventually took the plunge and commited to leave our L.A. lives behind for Sarasota, FL.

So, we eventually relocated to Sarasota from Los Angeles late in 2006. Together with my wife and Real Estate business partner, Anja Buetergerds and I found myself on the road heading to our new home in Sarasota, FL. Together we eventually we formed the Sarasota Suncoast Team, Inc of Keller Williams Realty and now we're lucky enough to be able to help others find their way to settle and call Sarasota, Bradenton or Venice home. Most just call it paradise.

We specialize in residential real estate in the Sarasota, Bradenton and Venice areas on the Suncoast of Florida. We live near the downtown area of Sarasota and our office is in Lakewood Ranch. So how does a guy from L.A. become a Sarasota real estate expert...I found it just comes naturally when you focus on what you love.

John,

That's all the matter's doing what you love even if it's on the opposite coast.   I can relate to you though, living and loving California all my life.  I just can't imagine living anywhere else.   I'll vacation here and there but to actually pry my little fingers out of California, ummm no. On second thought, I better not even talk or next time you hear from me I'll be living on an Island, look at what happened to you!

Best,
