I stared for a while, then simply said O.K.

There are some thing when inspecting homes that can leave you baffled.

Desert Sun Home Inspections in Carlsbad New Mexico had just one of those homes.

I know there are a lot of movers and shakers in the world of home owners. Everyone has their ideas of what they want to do with what ever they have to work with.

When making modifications or even needing to install anything.

Install it the right way. Not just the quickest way possible.

Remember fastest is not always best.

Here we have the need for a dryer vent to be ran outside. Not a big issue  right?

This home owner said "no problem" and just stuck it in the window.

Now the buyer needs to change the vent if they want to use the window as intended by the builder.

Here we can see what it looks like on the interior of the home.

I can see why the installer did'nt want to drill through the Stucco exterior. The exterior was in really nice shape for the age of the home.

Hi Clint-homeowners certainly get creative when doing repairs. This example is actually pretty funny two things come to mind safety and usefulness of the window.

I think they did'nt want to drill through the stucco. But they did get the vent installed.

Yes, I guess if it works then go for it. But I would rather see it through the exterior wall as opposed to through the window.

Not a temporary solution at all.

Home built in 1950 addition built in 1965. That's where the dryer vent is located. So the hook up's for the washroom was there since 1965.

Yes they are, at least the vent went outside and not into a stocking behind the dryer. LOL
