I have seen many people inquire about Localism is and how to post listings to it and do people really go out there.

To post listings or blogs to Localism all you have to do is write a blog on active rain and include the listing and data using html, then at the bottom where it asks for consumers, only select that box. Then select the state, county, city, and even neighborhood that you are posting it towards.

The real question is do people go out there and the answer is absolutely, positively yes. Consumers do search localism and it does provide a good source of data upon the neighborhoods of cities and what type of property is hot in that market. Posting to Localism does not just make sense, it is a good way to increase your reading of the blogs that you post publicly to it. Members only blogs are not posted to it unless you select it on the bottom of the page here.  I have seen people buy and sell homes in Modesto as a result of Localism and the best part of it all is that it is free. It also ranks very well in Google upon searches. So is Localism important? I absolutely say yes.  It is a very important strategy I use for marketing, plus it helps people see your knowledge in real estate.

Matthew - Just wait until the New Localism is officially launched. You'll have to beat off the customers with a stick!

I post to Localism all the time - for the exact reasons you list. I think AR has made the change that you can not post a listing to Localism and to the Professional Category at the same time, yet I still see listings in the professional category. Is there a secret marketing ploy out there?

There is a group that just accepts listings and I bet people probably post them twice.

Great point! I've started in this New Year to post homebuyer and seller information there. As well as my listings. It's even in my business plan to post frequently.

Thanks for the kind words Derrick and D'Adrea.  I think localism should be on everyone's business plan.  Most people that have found me lately found it through localism or active rain.

Another good thing to do on Localism is to comment on the neighborhoods of areas in your city or county.  It really helps when people google in that area.

I may add if you want to find out how well Localism works, I suggest they go to www.MyBlogLog.com and sign up. It really shows what people are looking for and how they find you, you will be amazed how many find your localism posts via Google and you can figure out what words people are searching for and change your blog tags to fit!
