Meeting A CPA...

By
Mortgage and Lending with M & T Bank

This is the best time of year to meet a CPA.

No way John.. tbey are doing taxes and don't have the time.

Yes they do.

Shut up!

No really. This is the best time of year to see a CPA for three minutes. For the last couple of years I have been taking emergency baskets to CPA;s to help them survive the long days and nights of crunching your lies into a tax return. They only see their clients, which are the same people you want to see.

Here is how you do it. Take a basket or a cute box and fill it with M&M's small candy bars, mints, Alka Seltzer, Advil, cans of soda and your cards. It will stay in their office and people will ask where it came from. They will tell their clients that this crazy loan officer or Realtor dropped it off.

Now when you drop this off, don't you think the receptionist will get the boss to come out and say hi. Of course they will and you can say hi, introduce yourself and offer to get out of their way. CPA's are polite professionals who usually won't rush you out.

When they ask what they can do for you thell them. When they are completing the tax return ask them to ask the client if they are planning on selling their home this year ( there is value added advice they can give here) or as they are reviewing the 1099 for mortgage interest, what is your rate and are you planning on making any home improvements this year?

Both are referrals for us. Youcan connect the rest of the dots. Let the non-Guerillas wait until April 15th. All of you crazy committed sales people...get in there now.

Yahooooooooo

As I was reading this, I had that same little voice inside my head.

"No way John.. tbey are doing taxes and don't have the time."

 Great idea!

Refrain from the processed flour and refined sugars.  Want to make a statement?  Go to the local health food store and grab an assortment of natural energy boosters, or a fruit juice, and maybe even a small denomination gift card.  Maybe the store owner will throw in a complimentary discount gift card if you ask.

The bleery eyed CPA will appreciate the unique and thoughtful gesture... and snak on some decent energy food.

My $.02
