1) You have become attached to the mice nesting in your lock box.

2) "For Sale" sign has become part of landscape and removal would now require heavy machinery.

3) Don't really need the commission since already wealthy beyond wildest imagination.

4) Afraid stager would suggest removal of client's beanie baby collection.

5) Afraid to upset client over cost of staging due to secretly believing Realtor commission is over-priced.

6) Confused "Staging" with "Aging" and, due to youth orientated culture, plans to avoid this like the plague.

7) Overdose on HGTV shows has caused a strange side effect of stager repulsion.

8) Secret fantasy of becoming an Interior Designer so plan to stage property yourself.

9) Would rather do all the necessary schlepping your self so you can stop paying for gym membership.

10)  Due to competitive nature, would rather try to sell average un-staged homes - selling staged properties not seen as enough of a challenge.

#4 is my favorite.  #9 is TRUE- staging is a physical job!

Really, the bottom line is Stagers save Realtor's time and effort so they can concentrate on getting more listings and selling houses (faster and for more money- sorry, couldn't help it).

James, can I share this with my clients?!? with our increased inventory and staging really sells!  I had a client (Buyer) tell me the other day that his agent on the mainland recommended he stage his house for sale and he refused because he believed people could "visualize" what it would/could/should look like.  Yet, when looking at 3 similar condos, he only wanted the one for $50,000 more because "it looked like he could move in today"...

Never underestimate the power of staging, cleaning, and clean surfaces!

Jamie-of course, you can share it. I would need a legal agreement, however, stating that you will credit me with the authorship. So the best way to do that is to sign a short agreement on the back of two round trip tickets from Chicago to Hawaii. They don't need to be first class just coach will do. No need to have them notarized either. One ticket should be an isle seat.

Just kidding. You are welcome to use it.. I would just ask that you put my name at the bottom of it.

I hope others get a chuckle when reading the list.

James, I love this!  Very funny!

I actually did 6 1/2 reasons not to stage (from the viewpoint of the homeowner) a while back, but I love this from the perspective of the Agent.  I tried to brainstorm the same recently, but only came up with 5.

Thanks, I did 6 1/2 just because it tied in with my 6 1/2 reasons to stage which I said I would do as a joke in another blog.  All a bit confusing to say the least.

Yours is TOO funny!  Now all you need are some good images to go with them!

Thanks to all of you who commented. I am pleased it brought a smile to you.  I am, however, still waiting for those two round trip tickets to Hawaii....Jamie......
