Oak Ridge is growing quickly and will continue to grow with new and proposed residential developments under way.  Oak Ridgers will have countless options when it comes to buying a new home.

Housing starts were up in 2005, and developers plan to build about 6,000 homes in Oak Ridge during the next decade, a recent Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce report said.

The chamber, along with the Oak Ridge Economic Partnership, released a "Mid-Year Economic Development Report" in January, under a contract between city and chamber officials.

That report said new housing starts in Oak Ridge hit 137 in 2005, up from 92 in 2004.

Some of the new and proposed residential developments in Oak Ridge include:

* Bristol Place Apartments, a high-end apartment complex off Emory Valley Road, near Science Applications International Corp.;

* Centennial Village, a residential development on Edgemoor Road;

* Jackson Crossing, a development off the Oak Ridge Turnpike in West Oak Ridge;

* Park Meade Place, on the Centennial Gulf Course off Edgemoor Road;

* Rarity Oaks, off Oak Ridge Turnpike, near the Country Club Estates;

* Rarity Ridge, a sprawling development across the Clinch River on the western fringe of Oak Ridge; and

* Willow Place, off Lafayette and Gettysburg avenues.

The biggest of the residential developments under construction is Rarity Ridge, off state Highway 58, just past the old K-25 site. Project plans have called for close to 4,000 homes there.

Those looking to buy a new home soon should keep Oak Ridge in mind.  The vast  range of new and proposed residential developments provide an abundance of choices and ammentities for current and future Oak Ridge residents.
