All of us in the Murphy, NC mountains like
what Punxsutawney Phil saw this morning!

Groundhog Day in Murphy NCEvery year, Punxsutawney, Pa., and the world waits eagerly to find out if the groundhog will see his shadow. If he dashes back in from seeing his shadow, we're stuck with six more weeks of winter! If he sticks around above ground, then spring is around the corner.

Most of us here in Murphy, NC have seen lots of rain lately and just a touch of snow and cooler temps to start our days off.  But as the morning started the world's most famous weather predicting groundhog, Phil, did NOT see his shadow this morning!

But just in case you're planning your spring garden...

Goodbye winter, hello early spring!

Hi Lee & Carol - I actually attended a shadowcasting in Punxsutawney many years ago - it was extremely cold, and later we found out that Phil had died a couple of days before, so - true story, I swear - they used a stuffed groundhog on a spring. In spite of that, it was both fun and very weird.

Hi Lea and Carol,

Dick's story is so funny, and I hope we are getting an early spring, although my cats' coats speak otherwise.  Have a great weekend. A

Other than the snow today it has been a pretty mild winter so far. Planning that early garden though :) A great weekend to you too Alexandra!
